Without looking at lines yet, the only two teams I would consider taking is Buffalo or NY Jets......scary!

I was saving 49ers for week 14 as well but am now considering another option.

My original plan was to take Det at home this week vs Indi followed by SF hosting Miami.

I am now thinking that it may be better to take SF @ STL this week, and then take TBay home to the Eagles next week.

Its tough this time of year.

I like Tampa over eagles but that team has some talent and you have to figure maybe they play a few decent games before the end of the year.

If I get to week 14, I was considering taking Tampa even though I still could use Seattle at home vs Arizona.

Could always save Seattle for week 17 (if I get there) vs St. Louis in a game likely to determine playoff fate.

This week is a serious challenge.

Option B: SF -7 @ STL, TBAY -8? vs PHI


How likely are each options to survive?

If it is close I will stick with option A as I would have a nice advantage being on SF with everyone else on SEA or TB. The problem is I just don't see TBAY losing very often which makes this edge nearly irrelevant.

Yikes....Im 1 of 21 of the remaining 115 that has picked the following 5: Baltimore, Dallas, Denver, New England and San Fran.

These are the 5 biggest spreads of the week, and will be the likely plays. Earlier in the year I used Baltimore and Dallas because I figured I wouldn't get another opportunity. SHows you how injuries can change strategy.

Buffalo or NY Jets?? I'm going to make a serious pros and cons list before I decide on anything.

I would think that a lot of guys will take Chicago this week. I am SHOCKED that the line is only -4. I might lose with them, but I will take Chicago this week and San Fran next week. Seattle is just 1-5 on the road and looked really bad last week against Miami.




I actually have Green Bay left on one of my $25 leagues, so that was at least an easy choice

I forgot to factor in Chicago, but only 18 in my league (15% can take them). After doing some analysis, here are my predictions on how my league will play out this week:

Baltimore - 34
Buffalo - 16
Dallas - 14
Denver - 12
New England - 10
NY Jets - 10

Carolina - 5
Chicago - 4
Detroit - 3

The SPortsbook.com contest is annoying. I still have 2 entries left but there are still a whopping 438 total left. Virtually nobody has gotten eliminated in the past 5 weeks. I don't think this week is particularly hard - I have the Cowboys on one entry and the 49ers on another. Most people either have Dallas, San Francisco, or New England as a viable option. All are greater than a touchdown favorite. If people don't start getting eliminated rapidly we'll have to start picking 2 or 3 teams in a couple of weeks. That should be fun.

To the guy thinking about taking Chicago over Seattle - man that's a really tough game. I don't think the Seahawks have lost 2 in a row all season and if you watched that Chicago / Minnesota game it should have been a ton closer. A key A.P. fumble early on turned that game, and Cutler threw some unbelievable balls in tight spaces that turned out to be "great decisions/touchdowns/key first downs" but man those were dangerous balls that if the WR or TE doesn't catch quite cleanly they could be tipped/picked like the old days. I'd think the Jets over AZ with 11 days to prepare is more appealing to me if you don't have Dallas, NE, SF, or even Balti as options.

Hey stanley I know what you mean. There have been relatively no upsets in the last 4 weeks. I wouldn't take into account the 11 days to prepare a big factor for the Jets. They probably had the whole weekend off anyways. They will be more rested but as far as preparation time it's probably the same.

My pool has lost about 40% of the entrants in the last 5 weeks, going from 193 to 115.
Sure, there have been a few BIG missed opportunities to get it under 50 (Pittsburgh MNF and Dallas over Cleveland come to mind)

Im sure the pace will pick up, as entrants are quickly running out of top 10 teams. But even the pace kept up, the ones still standing will get a nice pay day.

The good thing about these survivor contests is that when you get towards the end like we are you can start teasing the favorites to "hedge" and as a result I'm enjoying my only positive month of the football season so far.

Any feedback would be much appreciated. I'm taking Buffalo or NY Jets, but I can't figure out who. It's definately one these two though.....Im not taking Carolina on the road, I'm not taking Cleveland or Oakland, I'm not taking CIncy on road, etc. I have pros and cons for both.


I'm sure my pros and cons will be similar to everyone's has we all have the same information. With the Bills, they own the 7th best run offense per carry, while Jax can't stop anyone on the ground. If the Bills fall behind, they have a better chance of creeping back in the game, as they do have deep threats and playmakers. On the flip, Jags have looked respectable the last two games since getting Henne in.

With the Jets, I dont see Zona scoring too much with a banged up O line, and Lindlay playing. Plus, the Jets defense has been solid this year, minus a few games vs top teams. Travelling across country for a 1pm Eastern game hurts Arizona. But Arizona still has a really good defense, and they are going to win one of these weeks. Jets did have an extra 3 days to get healthy, which is definately an advantage. But Sanchez has been arocious, and Arizona line could give him fits.

I wish the forecast called for cold weather in Meadowlands or Buffalo this weekend, but it looks 50's and sunny.

Well I couldnt take Dallas, Denver, New England and thankfully San Fran and Baltimore!

It was either NY Jets, Buffalo or Detroit......glad I avoided the Lions, that would have been disappointing.

Early look....it's going to pretty hard not to take Seattle! I'll keep my eyes on the cornerback situation, but I don't even know if thats going to matter much. I get get cute, and take Tampa or even Pittsburgh.....but I doubt it.

yisman........I keep trying to be cute bylooking at Pittsburgh or Tampa this week, but the play in my case has to be Seattle, correct?

Sure, its the NFL and anything can happen.......but I wouldn't be too bothered going down in flames with the Seahawks at home against a team that can hardly complete a pass.

Of the 78 left, 24 have already taken the Seahawks. Of those 24, 23 have already taken San Francisco.
With that said, I'm expecting a good chunk of people on the Bucs, Colts and Browns this week. And of the 54 that can use Seattle......I'm guessing 15 or so of them don't, and try saving them for week 15 or 17. Just my two cents!

If Lindley is starting, you can blindly fade Arizona. The guy is absolutely terrible. Not even close to NFL QB-caliber. I think he's the worst player to start at QB in the NFL this season.

Whisenhunt using him over Skelton is mind-boggling.

I continued to roll along yesterday in my league with Seattle.....never in question, love those weeks.

78 started the day, and we got down to 62. 11 had Tampa, another 5 on Pittsburgh.

Going to get through my final exam on Tuesday before I begin to think about picking my poison next week. Nothing is clear cut.
