Best way to learn is to do some mock drafts. Go to the Yahoo site and join some mock drafts, it will give you the general understanding about how the draft will flow. It is a good idea to do different mocks in different drafting positions, to work on picking strategy, it also gives you a fair idea of where certain players are being taken.

As far as free agents, anyone not drafted is a free agent. To add a free agent, you first have to drop a player from your roster.

Will we know what postion we are picking, before the draft. To give ourselves a better idea of who may be there, with our first few picks? Also is it a snake draft, say i pick 3rd in first round, will i pick 10th in 2th round?

Have been gone a few days but to answer you guys questions:

The draft is set up as a snake draft. The draft order will be determined by random selection after everyone signs up on the day of the draft. The person who gets #1 overall pick will have the first pick of first round, last pick of second round, first pick of third round, last pick of fourth, and so on, it alternates that way when selecting.
Like someone above said, anyone who is not drafted is a free agent. During the season you can add/pickup players from the waiver wire (free agency) as long as you drop how ever many players you are picking up. The person who is last in total standings automatically has the first waiver each week. Everyone has unlimited add/drops all year long. For instance if everyone put a waiver request this week, the person with worst record has first dibs on any ONE player, and the other teams will follow as the record would indicate their waiver order. This means if I have the 2nd waiver pick this week, and the person with the first waiver is trying to get the same guy as I am, he will get first dibs, and my waiver will either be cancelled, OR if I had more than one waiver request, then my 2nd waiver request would be used at that time.
I am almost certain waiver requests would have to be submitted by thursday, and the transaction takes place at 3:00 am on friday.

9pm central during the week is really late. I wake up at 5am for work so I am not really interested if thats the case. I am EST and I goto bed at 10pm est (when the draft is just starting). Can we move it to the Sat night or an earlier time during the week? ie 7pm central vice 9pm
