Thoughts: Here in Vegas the first 3 weeks Sports Books had modest college wins… Last week they killed. Big Favorites like Alabama, Oregon, and Boise State missed covering. Stanford had been a favorite with fans in the early season, but they jumped ship betting Notre Dame and were embarrassed by the Stanford Cardinals. The books held around 20% of the take, except for the followers of this blog who again cashed on 3 TOP PLAYS once again.

NFL Week #4

Week #4 Plays:


[220] San Diego Chargers -9 over the Arizona Cardinals
(Take the BOLTS +105 for $66.66 – 3.5 UNITS bet based on $20 units)

A 32-18 projection here for the Chargers over the Cardinals, and a pretty good lean on a higher scoring game (which should correlate with a favorite covering a large spread). Norv Turner is back in form, by never having the Chargers ready to play at the start of each season. San Diego under Turner has always started slow, and finished the season strong. We are now ready to see them play a decent game. Phillip Rivers should be able to dominate the Cardinals defense, and have his way with their weak secondary. The Cardinals really miss retired QB Kurt Warner, and have been winning despite horrible quarterback Derek Anderson. The Cardinals play is horrible, time for the Chargers to ring up a big win.



[212] St. Louis Rams +2 over the Seattle Seahawks

A 19-15 projection here for the Rams at home over the Seahawks. It is hard to hate the Rams right now. Rookie QB Sam Bradford is really making a name for himself, and we are loving him and the improving defense. Picking St. Louis with a Rookie QB and a dinged up Steven Jackson though is more about a pick against the Seahawks. The Seahawks are overrated so far this season, after their opening week blowout of the 49ers, they have been extremely lucky in their last two games. This isn't a bad spot at all for this Division home dog (division home dogs are always worth a second look anyways in all sports). St. Louis doesn't look like a bad team anymore; our computer numbers make the Rams the better team, and we feel the wrong team is favored…So we go with the points and the home team woof.

[224] New York Giants -3 over the Chicago Bears
(Take the GIANTS -130 for $65 – 2.5 UNITS bet based on $20 units)

The standard projection goes either way on this one otherwise I'd be taking it for more. The Bears new structure has been in question quite a bit in the past couple of weeks. Will it ever be exploited or is this the real deal? With about half the offensive stats on the chart and a win over Green Bay last week, it looks like they are due for some correction. It is hard to call when on these, but I see this as the time to do it...This week they face the 1-2 Giants in New York who are going to come out highly motivated at home, on National tv. Take the Giants to catch up here, find their pride once again at home, and slow down the Bears just a little bit.

We love these situations where the public is loading up on the favorite 89% so far, and we are in love with the Dog. This line should be -8 or -9 favoring the birds, and the bookies are licking their chops by holding this line at 7 and begging the public to bet on Atlanta. Nobody wants any part of SF, after watching them get ripped by the Chiefs, who are now undefeated.
San Francisco can NOT afford to go 0-4 to start the season. The 49ers were humiliated last year by the Falcons which adds to the revenge factor for San Fran. Mike Singletary has signaled he is serious by firing offensive coach Jimmy Rayees, and benching players, he is desperate.

On the other side of the coin, Atlanta just knocked off the defending Super Bowl Champs in overtime, with a fantastic game plan. After expending all that energy on this big win against the Saints, it’s going to be hard to get the boys up against the pathetic 0-3 49ers.
