Nice breakdown. I agree the D should be fine, but against Rodgers it might not matter. Keep in mind that PHI has mediocre safeties at the moment. Allen should be good with time, but his first start in the NFL against an elite QB? Mikell is alright, but don't expect pro-bowl play from him. Their pass rush should be improved and the corners can give them a chance, but at the end of the day it will be very tough to come out with a win. The LBs are in transition and I wouldn't say they are "good" just yet. Bradley is a beast, but he needs to prove he hasn't lost anything from his knee injury. PHI has always been burned by good tight ends so to go up against Finley in game 1 could be a nightmare. I like the OVER but would stay away from the side even at 3.5

I hate hearing about the Eagles' safety situation. It's not like you can have pro-bowlers at every position. Mikell proved he can still make plays with a nice diving pick in the preseason, and Nate Allen is an upgrade over Macho Harris/Quentin Demps almost by default.

Bradley is a big upgrade over the platoon the Birds had at MLB last season and same goes for Sims at OLB. Eagles LBs failed at covering TEs pretty bad last season, but will do a lot better this time around. If Bradley doesn't defend the pass, he makes the tackle pretty much right away, even from behind on big dudes. He made some really nice tackles in preseason.

And speaking of nice tackles in preseason, Asante Samuel had several. I think he let the Philly fans get to him and will be a more complete defender this year.

Anyway, with 4 or 5 new starters, you can trash whatever data you have on the Eagles D last year. This group will be nasty.

As a big eagles hometown fanboy I can tell you that they will compete but Kolb is bound to throw 2 INT's in this game. Those will be the difference in a shootout that GB should win.
