I know a lot of people lost a lot of money on Jax but how were they the correct pick
The reason i raise this is because no matter what you thought before the game, even Jax believers wouldn't have thought they would have scored on all their posessions going into the 4th qtr - or whatever it was. And manning threw a pick, and garrard played amazing. Jax backers weren't honestly thinking that all this would fall into place right?
Fact is, too many people wanted to think they were being sharp, second guessing Indy's motivation, and trying to second guess vegas putting out a soft line.
maybe vegas weren't sure of the motivation, but think about it, it's these guys jobs to play hard every down, EVERY DOWN. Contracts are there to be had. Jax +3.5 backers weren't on the right side, Indy PK earlier in the week or whatever the early line was, were the true people on the right side

*and this is in no way to create anger, just that the only argument that JAX was the right pick was if INDY hadn't returned the 97 yarder. Then they would have had 7 less obviously

Cheers Nash, its getting a bit heated in here but some perspective is needed, people can't despise 'squares' for picking the obvious play, Should people really be fading an undefeated team with such a small spread.........

The Jags played like it was the Super Bowl. I didn't expect it, it could have gone either way. Good game to watch.

You lost but it was the "right play". I love it! My bank account says I made the right play. The scoreboard says I made the right play. That's all I care about. You guys continue being "right" and losing your money if that makes you feel good. "All probabilities had Jags covering the spread" ... BUT THEY DIDN"T!!! All that matters is the end result. "They don't understand." I understand that I won by 4, you lost by 1/2. The "right play" was the one I called - Colts ML or Colts -3 or stay away - but you guys had to make the "right play" and take the Jags and LOSE. We'll try harder next time to be "right".

Just my opinion, but gamblers who insist "it was the right play, even though it lost!" are dead wrong almost every time. The only time they are right is if the losing team suffers a game-ending injury to one of their top two skill position players early in the game. Other than that, your excuses are bullshit, whether it's a square play or a brilliantly capped play. It is not uncommon at all that square plays win, and if you aren't on the winning side of a lot of them, then you're a loser.
It was foolish for those who predicted that Manning would play a quarter or that the Colts would bag this game. The NEXT two weeks are the games that Colts' management and coaching will consider shutting down starters early; they have never done that in the 14th game of the season. And I personally believe they are dumb for doing it in the 15th and 16th games (history has shown they gained virtually no advantage from resting starters). And Peyton Manning is an obsessed QB. He HATES coming out of games. He will be on the field to take a knee in the last minute of a 4-touchdown blowout. There was no chance he was playing one quarter in this game.
I had the Colts -3 for three units and as my best bet in this week's Beat the Prick. I'll admit I was a little worried in the second half, but I also felt confident that even if the Jags had taken a 38-35 lead with two minutes to go, Peyton would have led the Colts right back down the field for yet another TD.

But they WON in the end and that is all that matters. Yep, right on the money, he had the WINNING bet. Doesn't matter if it covered by 1 or 100, it pays the same. This one covering by only 1 was particularly sweet though to slap all you wackos that took the Jags. We said Manning would win and you shouldn't bet against him. We cashed AGAIN. All you haters think you were "right" with your LOSING bets. That's hilarious. If you were so "right" why aren't you enjoying the results???

You and me both... and for that matter, enogsiwon had the over as his best bet AND picked the Colts to win in Beat the Prick. He's 2-0 this week so far and trying to land back in the top two spots.
Smart money (and, um, I guess the squares, too) were on the Colts!

Right on the money means you get a feel for how the game will go. He said it would be a blowout, it wasn't...at all. Sure he was right and I was wrong, he won and I lost, but my Jags by 3 prediction was closer then his Colts by 21 prediction. It had nothing to do with winning or losing.

Now, on THAT point, BJ, you were definitely way more right than he was!
Actually, I thought the game would be close. The Jags had a lot to play for and they were at home, so it wasn't stupid for anyone to take the Jags +3, especially if they got/bought the hook.
I just felt like Manning -- and practically Manning alone -- would not allow the Colts to lose this game when the coaches had already agreed they would play the starters as long as necessary to win this game. Next week might be a different story.
I do NOT feel the same way about the Saints on Saturday. I think that will be another tight game and I gladly took the Cowboys +7 1/2.

It was really anyones game. Fans were real into it, first sell out for the Jags. Jags went up 3-0, Colts make it 7-3, Jags make it 10-7, Colts make it 14-10 on a kick return, Jags make it 17-14, Colts make it 21-17, Jags make it 24-21, Colts make it 28-24, Jags make it 31-28, Colts make it 35-31. Jags had a chance to score but had to punt, got the ball back with 2 minutes a time out and then threw a pick when they got to a little past midfield. There wasn't a punt until the 4th quarter. Teams scored on every possession in the first half other then a Peyton INT and the Jags when they got the ball with 0:40 left in the half.
Anyone who says either side was a good bet is lying.

I had a small 1 unit bet on Jax with the +3. There are some games you feel like an idiot for your lean. I think last night was still an intelligent play despite it not coming through. That said, there is no moral victories in sports gambling!

SO say the Colts were down 3 at half. Dallas Clark dropped a ball, that he'd normally catch, and it was a lucky tip, and the other guy intercepted the ball. If that play didn't happen colts could of scored, and Jax, wouldn't of scored so quickly, or had gread Field position. That argument of yours is just stupid, saying "if that play didn't happen, then they wouldn't of scored" That can be said about 20 times a game.
