24 Hour Marathon Plays

Memphis -6.5 (1x) (((Already Posted)))
Memphis very young but Miami is going to struggle this year. This team is about a year away from anything serious. Big game for Memphis early in the year. Last year they struggled on the boards but they brought in a ton of talent and the top 3 recruits in all of Memphis to help out. Some big bodies really developing from what I have read these past couple months. Think they have a good chance to run Miami out of the building.

St. Mary's -4 (1x)
Everyone is in love with this veteran St. John's team, including me, but this just isn't their type of game. Playing at 2 AM in a hostile environment not exactly something any Big East team is used to. Marys will miss Samhan but just like they rebounded after Patty Mills left I think they are in store for another good year. Marys thrives in these kind of games and they have enough shooters to take advantage of St. Johns advantage off the bench.

Hawaii -6 (1x)
Hawaii looked very good in their first two games this year and Central Michigan is coming off of a loss to Montana State in overtime. That is the same team Hawaii beat by 18 the day before. Hawaii has made quick work of their first two opponents winning by the previously mentioned 18 and beating Cal St Fullerton by 14. They are doing it with a very efficient offense and have been shooting the lights out from behind the arc. I don't expect them to shoot it as well here but even if they don't they still have been rebounding the ball very well and it has resulted in good production in the paint.

I understand everyone who backed St. Johns. Trust me, I do. I have this team circled as a team to be undervalued all year and once I saw the schedule for a marathon I thought I would be playing St. Johns. But I thought the line would be closer to 8.5 or 9. St Marys at home -4 I just can't pass on and in the end no matter how good we think SJ can be they still haven't proved anything. Maybe they do tonight. Good luck.

Vandy didn't impress me yesterday. That game was tight the whole way until a run at the end where Nebraska was just chucking up threes and fouling. This was a better match up last year for Vandy with Ogilvy inside. Now without a dominant post presence I could see WVU eating up all the boards and with good defense forcing a lot of contested shots. Like this one quite a bit.

Illinois -4.5 (2x)
Maryland got beaten up pretty good last night by Pitt. They got out-rebounded by about 20 boards. You look at MD and they have been extremely unimpressive this year. They miss Vasquez a ton and although they brought in Jordan Williams I don't think this team will be playing at its full potential until Mid December. The Illini hung with a good Texas team stride for stride and with all five of those starters returning they look like the most together team I have seen this year.
