Not sure why spread moving up with auburn? Seems to be a theme w me, liking MTSU vs bigger school for 3rd straight but guess might as well wait and see if line goes higher. Once again think they can win straight up so worth waiting cause if it drops no biggie.

CoC +11.5.. nothing but respect for Rhode Island, the way they have continued to succeed without EC is a testament to Hurley and whole team. This number just too big for a solid charleston team. Rams success comes in large part to the amount of turnovers they cause and CoC has strong guard play and value possessions and cougars can turn ya over as well. Don't think rams have a huge advantage in that area which I think alone prob enough to keep cougars inside this number. There one other thing that makes me believe this gonna be a game for 40 minutes. Rams foul a lot (as in one of worst ft allowed rates in nation!) and CoC attacks off the bounce and draws a lot of fouls. On other hand RI does not get to the charity stripe (again one of worst in nation at getting to the line!) while CoC does very little fouling. I'm not saying upset here but don't be shocked if this goes down to the wire.

Banker I asked u this before, not sure if u already answered ... where do you go for your team stats? Like giving up FT opps, or their own attempts at the line, etc.?

I use ESPN team stats for most of those FT, foul, TO, adj FG%, etc. The info is all there but it’s just not the most efficient way to sort or find it. Just wondering if there’s something else better, easier to use free/cheap source out there. Thanks!

Kenpom is by far best imo. Just way its presented and everything he has makes my life way easier, pretty much only site I even use. . only 20 bucks a year, so worth it!! You can actually click on his projected score for game and get all that shit on one page lined up next to each other for both teams.

I second this, finally decided to F around with College hoops and subscribed (can't believe so cheap!) and after 1 week of messing around am honing in on the lines. Really well presented and easy to interpret and extrapolate where you think teams may be playing to strengths or weaknesses against opponents. On that note Bank, from experience with Kenpom are there any areas you feel the numbers can be a bit misleading? Like era in MLB for instance.

When you get teams that have faced bunch of cup cakes they can be incredibly misleading but other than that or anything pacific not really. I dig into a lot of individual games already played to see if I'm getting consistent effort to generate those numbers against certain ranks of teams if that makes sense?

I thought shockers felt a little high but no way was i willing to play under with way Sooners get up and down w that litttle pg. tend to trust defenses more than O tho and that a team like shockers will normally get the tempo they want not play at other teams. So gun to head I see it playing under but understand why it that high..can't remember exactly where I put it off top of my head but think i had it maybe 3 points lower than kp number.

I skipped right past Iowa cause they havnt really given me a consistent trustable effort that I feel I can use to put a number on them.

Yea if you can get it,, so far best I've seen is 155.5. Absolute best comparison I could find was 1st game of year which not my favorite but similarities very good and they only got to 152 that game. I think this be played a little lower than that and again no chance in hell of ot!! Lol

I'm not banker, but there are instances where kenpom puts too much emphasis on defensive time of possession when calculating possessions. With limited exceptions, offenses dictate tempo far more than the defenses do. One way to mitigate that is to find out how many possessions a team's opponents average. That can give you an idea whether a team speeds up or slows down its opponents. I've found statfox to provide an easy format to calculate opponents' average possessions. Always be careful about OT games this time of year when calculating possessions. They can skew things a bit now but eventually become pretty insignificant.

I use this type of analysis primarily with totals, but it can be used to work with sides as well. Obviously you still need to figure out offensive and defensive efficiencies, but pace of is a spot where I think it's possible to get an edge over the kenpom numbers and, by extension, the markets.

Your response was more interesting than mine cause I wasn't thinking of kp's numbers for inaccuracies more actual team stats that can be misleading. Honestly the thing I use kp's actual work for mostly is getting a good idea what line will be before the open. Other than that as I can tell you do I like to put in my own work off the numbers available.

Tend to agree. As is straight pass for me. They capable of covering the number no doubt but that little bad ass pg for Sooners scares me. You know if they down late he will be firing 3's and if he hot could easily get or keep it under that number. He really seems like the kind of kid that lives for big moments and big games and think this will qualify as such for him.. such a big card just thought there were better options.

La tech was mostly within 10 of Texas all game but think they played the foul game even down 10! Not 100% on that but that what it appeared like scoreboard watching., I would make these 2 plays over and over every day of the week but will check box scores and game chart as I always do later tonight.
