Question about looking at Class of race and class rating.

if I look on twinspires or TVg at avg class rating for gulf race 12 I see #'s around 106,107,108

is that out of 110? How do you know what the "class" of any particular future race is?

for instance Gulf race 1. I can see that the avg "last class" for most of the horses are high 70's or low 80's

how do we know what the avg class is of that actual race?

not sure if that makes sense, but I read people comment about a horse dropping in class, how do you know that they are in a race with lower class? does it depend somewhat on the payout? or some sort power rating of class level per horse?

I don't use those numbers either (class or race ratings)..you need to know the different class levels of the races..when they speak of a horse dropping in class I don't think they are going by numbers ..I could give you a framework if you want..there's some complex conditions but the basic ones aren't hard to understand

I guess you could compare those #’s to like ESPN’s FPi or whatever they use to simulate

- I guess I can’t knock the numbers , but in pari mutual wagering

you’re trying to out handicapp the other bettors , not Bookmakers common line

what if the NFL odds were pari mutual , and not adjusted by anyone or anything , just the market

understand figure making is an art and not a science but I like some framework with that..i'd have a tough time without speed figures and would just have to go by class..got by without pace figures for a long time with the paper racing form but like to use them now..could manage without them though ..like the brisnet pedigree info and trainer stats

Okay well I didn’t mean any offense by it

kid is this the pick 5 strategy you like to employ on occasion

pick 5

2×2×2×2×2 =32
4×4×4×4×4 =1024 (32×32)

if 2 in each leg are "key" horses
if 2 in each leg are "secondary" horses

(for ease of explaining 4 horses total/leg )

main ticket =32 combos

key horses each leg (2) with the secondary horses in each leg (2)
32 ×5 (legs)=160 secondary combos

6 tickets =192 combos
vs 1024 (4×4×4×4×4) combos

so now if 4 of 5 of your key horses win and the losing leg is won by a secondary horse you hit the pick 5..and that's reasonable expectation..if you miss one leg with your mains should be your secondary picks that saves you
