I came back in style tonite with my 3 big plays cashing with Clem -3....Kent -1.5....Tex -6....my instincts told me to buy 2 pts for Kentucky after taking Missouri last nite and losing with the same line...so this feels good....lost 1/2 unit on Marquette...ended up going 3-1 on sides....0-1 on a teaser and 1-0 ml parlay for +4.8 units overall

Wednesday February 11 thoughts....
like a lot of people I like UNC to beat Duke..I also think they are the better team..but I like two other games as much as well....and that's Wake Forrest -6 and LSU +1.5...regarding LSU, they beat Miss St by 24 at home...Thornton scored 31 and at 6 4" 210 pounds ...will dominate again as the largest perimeter player for Miss St is only 175 pounds...now this line is different then say a Boise St +1 line at Fresno St..this is a SEC home team gets respect line....LSU was only a 7 pt fav at Georgia and beat them by 18...First place is on the line here with LSU 7-1 in conf play..Miss St 6-2, and LSU was only a 6.5 pt fav the first time they played. The second one I really like is Wake Forrest...hard to believe they have lost 3 of their last 5 games...they come in needing this win and have lost 3 straight on the road to NC State, so they will be highly motivated...they following is info on Wake as they will dominate the inside and come away with a solid win and this will be my biggest play tomorrow.
In comparing the numbers from last season to this season, it is apparent Wake Forest has shifted its offensive focus to scoring inside and not relying on the three-pointer. In 2007-08, the Deacons took 33.0 percent of their field goal attempts from beyond the arc and scored 26.2 percent of their points on three-pointers.
In 2008-09, Wake Forest is taking just 20.2 percent of its total field goal attempts from beyond the arc and 14.8 percent of the team’s points have been scored on three-pointers. In terms of paint production, Wake is scoring over 10 more points per game in the paint this season. Last year, the Deacs scored 33.1 points in the paint per game, compared to 43.8 this season.
Wake leads the ACC and ranks sixth nationally with a field goal percentage of 49.1. Wake Forest has shot 50 percent or better in 11 games this season and has out-shot its opponent 19 times. Four of the Deacons’ five starters are shooting 50 percent or better, and the fifth starter (Williams) is at 49.3 percent.
The Deacons lead the ACC and rank seventh nationally in field goal percentage defense with a mark of 37.6 percent -- Wake’s lowest percentage since 1996-97 (36.4). Wake Forest also leads the ACC and is sixth in the country in three-point field goal percentage defense. The Deacons have held opponents under 40 percent shooting in 13 games this season. Wake Forest is also second in the ACC in blocked shots and third in steals. The Deacs rank in the top 16 of both categories nationally.
Wake Forest ranks second in the ACC and sixth in the country in scoring offense at 82.0 points per game. The Deacs are 11th nationally in scoring margin at +13.9, which is currently the highest mark in school history. Wake has hit the 80-point mark 13 times this year and has held opponents under 70 points 11 times.
The Deacs have used their size to produce points in the paint. Wake Forest has outscored its opponents 920-529 in the paint this season. Of Wake’s total points on the season, 53.4 percent have come in the paint. Opponents have scored 37.0 percent of their points in the paint.
Wake is getting to the foul line at a rapid rate and is converting on a decent number of its attempts. The Deacons have taken 567 free throw attempts on the year, compared to 451 for their opponents. Wake is averaging 27.0 free throw attempts per game, which is the highest mark in the ACC. The Deacs have attempted at least 23 free throws in 15 games this season.
Wake ranks fourth in the ACC with 41.7 rebounds per game -- which is the Deacons’ highest rebounding average since 1968-69 (46.7). The Deacs are fifth in the ACC and 34th nationally with a margin of +5.4 and have won the battle of the boards 13 times this season and tied in another game. Three Deacons (Aminu, Johnson, McFarland) are among the league’s top 16 rebounders. Wake leads the country with 29.4 defensive rebounds per game.
The Deacons, who like to play an up-tempo game, have been excellent in transition offense and defense. Wake is scoring over 15 points per game on fastbreaks and is allowing less than five points per game in fastbreak defense.
Despite having just one scholarship senior on the roster, Wake Forest is an experienced squad overall. The Deacs returned 10 letter-winners, including all five starters, from a season ago. However, despite the veteran experience, Wake Forest is the only team in the ACC to not have a senior start at least one game.Comment -

Two leans I'm undecided about...
Baylor +3.5 have lost 5 in a row and 30 straight to Oklahoma but have to think they are way overdue for a great game and Oklahoma has struggled in their past couple of wins as they are the hunted and get everyone's A game...
Arkansas +6 1-7 in conf play 0-4 on the road and lost at home by 22 to Auburn...everything against these guys but I think they can hang with Auburn and will come in angry after blowing that 15 pt halftime lead to Miss St on Saturday..Comment -

bravo.....bravo... lol that is one of the best write ups i have read in a long time. i havent even looked at this game yet but after reading this i will almost certainly be putting putting money on wake. i love betting on teams that have inside presence and score most of their points from inside the paint, as i feel that they are way more consistant and predictable over the long run since they dont have to rely on a hot hand to win. but if you dont mind me asking why are you buying to points when it seems like such a strong play?Comment -
Not sure on the Xavier/Dayton game but St Bonny +14 looks good...especially with Baron hurting and Cothran just coming back. Andrew Nicholson, the Freshman for the Bonnies is a force inside...second in the conf with 72 blocked shots...defensively they should be able to hang in this one...I'll add this one for me as wellComment -

Just a note regarding Auburn-Arkansas. I scratched it. Auburn lives and dies by the 3 and they are just too unpredictable when it comes to shooting. If they are on tonight they could blow arkansas out. Otherwise, it will be a tight matchup and Arkansas could win straight up. Just no consistency from these guys. Very frustrating to cap.Comment -

Utah St 23-1...kind of unreal...they won by only 9 at home...and now Idaho is at home where they are 8-2...the huge advantage for Utah St is rebounding last 4 games vs each other

After the Wake debacle not a bad day Pete. I wager WAY too many games but that is how I roll. Ended up winning the last 7 to have a decent day (up 4+ units but still chasing 2 units this week). Keep pushin' it man. I'm usually on the same side as most of your games.
