Weber State -1 at Eastern Washingtonn

I like Weber State here, who just came off a strong road win against Division leader 13-5 Portland State. They should carry that momentum against this average Eastern Washington that struggled against much inferior opponents recently in 4-13 Idaho State at home and lost to 4-13 Northern Arizona on the road.

In a shootout I think Notre Dame scoring abilities should be able to counter Louisville prowess on D. Notre Dame has also been shooting well from the 3 in their last two win hitting 16-35 (45%). If they can maintain that number in this game, then I see no reason why they can't cover or just win this game.

Memphis has the better talent, road play experience and better Coach. Memphis has also dominated the Conference USA every year since joining it 3 years ago, despite losing very good players to the draft. That's why Memphis is the right play and only play.

Toledo is missing alot of players and has been pathetic on the road this entire season 0-8. Their recent 51-75 lost on the road came at the hand of NIU. NIU is comparable to West Michigan, and I expect Toledo's road futility to continue.

Thursday play of the day

Denver +8 at North Texas

Denver's has been playing great basketball in their last 9 games going 6-3. All 3 lost were only by 3 points. North Texas on the other hand is going the complete opposite. After starting the season with an 8-2 record, they have been the recipient of 5 consecutive losses. That streak came to an end for UNT thanks to a hard fought overtime 86-83 win against Arkansas State at home. UNT is a struggling team still trying to figure who they are, while Denver is a team that has consistently been playing well and is beginning to believe that they have something special going on here. This is why Denver is the right play today.

Thursday play of the day

Denver +8 at North Texas

This is an example of getting the right play and then getting unlucky at the end. Fortunately the right play got lucky at the end this time. Denver up 39-22 at the half almost blew a +25 point spread margin as UNT took 69-60 lead thanks to a meaningless foul with .05 seconds remaining. Denver somehow manages to make a layup off of an UNT missed free throw, and therefore preserving the +8 point spread with the final score of 62-69.

Today is one of the harder day to pick plays because the obvious lack of variety in games being played. Conversely the same game be said about Saturday where you have about 50 games and you like every single one of them. Okay here we go!


Friday's Play of the Day

Brown -3 vs Yale

Yale is a very confusing team on the road this season. They've beaten OregonState, lost to a decent Alabama team 63-66, yet lose to a JC like team 1-15 Bryant just 3 weeks ago. In these kind of games where there's not much to go with, you have to go with the obvious. Conference rivals always plays each other tough, and winning on the road is tough, with the home crowd factor and all. This is why Brown with a 5-1 home record should win here.
