ATL & IND come into this matchup stacked up pretty even in most stats. So to begin with, there's good value in 4 pts. Both teams are defensive juggernauts (the 1st Half line has dropped fom 94 to 93.5) But what is more revealing to me is that IND is coming off an emotional losing effort against Chicago yesterday. On the horizon, IND is facing Miami in a few days. ATL itself is facing MIA tomorrow. Wow. But then again, ATL is coming off two days rest after beating OKC. Talk about confidence!

The Pixster is back in after a long day. I see that the "defensive juggernauts" were NOT today. But, the Hawks came to town to play.
+1 unit on the day so far. Taking a look at the NY @ DAL for the first time here. May post a pick if I find a wagerable stat, for the lack of a better term.

In the 1st Half, DAL is scoring closer to its usual percentage than is NY. Both teams 2nd Half avgs are about the same (around 45). Currently at halftime, NY is within six - a manageable amount to give them hope. Waiting on the line.

In previewing the 1st Half o/u line for the BOS/PHI game, I see that it opened at 89.5
That's about right on target, based on scoring avg's (on paper). But if its right on target, the number then is based on the two teams bearing relatively equal scoring trends. So why then is PHI a 3.5 fav when in their last 10 games they've gone 2-8? The two OT games BOS played this week were in Boston, so imo I don't think that will affect them much. Neither will the short flight to PHI. BOS's away 1st half scoring avg is 50; 41.7 is PHI's home 1st half scoring avg. Are the 76ers expected to snap out of their skid against BOS, a team that has won five in a row and beat PHI 3 out 4 last season? We'll see.

HOU @ TOR (1st Half): U 94, 3 units
After running the numbers, I don't see how this matchup goes over 94 by halftime. The teams are polar opposites in pts allowed, and polar opposites in pts per game. The line has them at a virtual pk. That means no one gives HOU the benefit of the doubt against lowly TOR; the inference being that HOU will score as low as an amount as TOR is used of scoring. TOR's 1st half avg. is 43 pts, at home no less! Am I missing something here?

UTAH @ CHA (1st Half): UTAH -4, 1 unit
Utah knows what happened to ORL last night. ORL was caught with its pants down, and CHA took advantage of it. But in the public's mind, the Bobcats beat ORL and thus can beat UTAH also. Maybe they can. The Jazz aren't the best on the road, but CHA aren't the best anywhere. Is the start of a winning trend for CHA? A rested Jazz team vs. a tired out Bobcat team says no.

IMO, LAL will make WAS pay for their loss vs. DET yesterday. Laker coach Mike Brown will see to that. The Lakers own the Wizards, avg'ing 111.3 pts during a nine-game winning streak over Washington dating back several years. The line might have actually been higher had not the Lakers, given its poor road record, lost yesterday.

When I first saw this 1st Half line, I thought, "Wow, really?" Yeah, everyone knows MIA is an offensive powerhouse. However, in their last three games MIA has avg'ed only 48.7, kinda low considering they're capable of higher. Enter ATL's defense, which is better ranked than MIA's. An easy game for MIA no more, that is unless ATL suffers a tropical calamity. Back to the offense...ATL has scored an avg of 50 pts in their last three games. So, was ATL's recent victory over OKC and a few other good teams a fluke, or are they really capable of hanging in with the big boys?
Note: Depending on the status of Wade, I may revisit this game with another pick for the 2nd Half.

MIA has to play with intensity the whole game in order to have a chance at winning Game 2. MIA was ahead in Game 1 at the half, so they obviously have what it takes to be in the lead at the half in this game - a more important game as they don't want to fall to 0 - 2 in the Finals. Whether MIA wins this game is another question and another bet for another person to make. My gut tells me, though, that LeBron & Wade and Co. won't disappoint, at least not in the 1st Half.
