that stuff doesn't really matter to me for one game, or in one spot.

when i bet on the hornets in houston everyone said houston has been covering games like crazy the previous two weeks and the hornets couldn't cover a game to save their lives. Well the game went to OT and they covered by about 10, only losing by 2.

Again, only worry for this one is the "star player out for home team" element.

At the 3-minute mark of this radio interview (link below), Brian Wheeler who travels with the team as he calls their games, says the Blazers had the best road practice of the year in Utah yesterday, had a very spirited practice, and the coach was "very pleased". Wheeler said he's been at every practice this season and the one in Utah yesterday was probably their best:

well some very good signs so far. They are rebounding very well in the paint with multiple Blazers grabbing at rebounds, and rebounding is always a key indicator for effort. They are also coming back and blocking shots. moreover, they have already created multiple turnovers defensively. It's extremely early of course, but it's rare for portland to do "all" those key things on the road early in a ball game

well this is what I had hoped to see in the start after the 1st quarter. Blazers are indeed playing "physical" and playing "Rose Garden style" basketball. Crashing the boards, going hard to the rim (have triple the points in the paint than the Jazz do), going hard after loose balls and winning most of those battles, big men playing better than Jazz big men by a good margin, and overall being rough and physical as a team.

Whatever happens later, they are coming out with a sense of urgency and a sense of purpose on the road here. It clearly shows that they want this one so far. Rose Garden basketball on the road.

Yup. As soon as Camby left the game the Blazers started to get sloppy and the Jazz clearly looking like the better team during the 2nd half of the 2nd quarter. What we have to keep in mind is Portland is a much better 2nd half team so we do have that going for us. They had a great 2nd half with tremendous effort in every way in OKC when they really wanted that road win... hope that falls true here tonight as well

Portland did so well in the 1st half playing their brand of basketball, going to the rim and through the paint. Now its the jazz doing that and the blazers settling for jumpshot after jumpshot after jumpshot, only passing around the perimeter and not going inside.

It befuddles me why they stop playing to their identity so often on the road... and there's no excuse for it tonight considering how they started out.

Portland still leading, by only one.. but it feels like they're down by 7
