Cheme, first thx 4 posting, i followed your "memorial thread" and got excited when I tried to take posted plays and come up with a formula that worked 1st/2nd halves. First 10 days was 70% then needless to say fizzled out.

Can I ask for the plays where you DO NOT buy points, do you plug in -165 into the Calculator to figure out your minimum 2.5% edge? Or do you plug in -170?

cheme, in your opinion, what do you make of the fact that without the "3 @-165" there is no statistical edge, I hope I'm wrong but as NBA goes by seems impossible the sustain anywhere near 66% due to coming back to the mean. Have you tracked years past straight up w/o the "3"?
Also, do you ever come across straight up edges (i.e. line is -7, at this line you come up with an egde based on calc w/o extra pts) thank you.Comment -
It seems like even though the calculator doesn't show a numerical edge if you don't buy the points, the fact that one side would be +EV with the point buying seems to "point you" in the right direction. When you use the calculator to determine an edge and therefore your bet amount it's like a hybrid between reading the Pinny lean and the 3-point buy system.
As NBA goes by the lines tighten up and the value of buying points actually goes up because we are moving from a solid line for the same price as in the beginning of the season, whether the winning % will change I don't know as I haven't done this in other years.
No, never straight up edges at least in NBA because no half point is worth more than 10 cents. If Pinny showed a line that Bodog for example is a whole point off on then maybe you would show a positive edge even without buying points.Comment -
