Sometimes I really wonder about these NBA games. More often than I'd like to admit it seems as if the teams are aware of certain lines and seem to do their OBVIOUS best to make or break a spread.
I can't remember the game but this one team scored 46 points in the 1st quarter and 13 points in the 2nd. Now some of you won't believe me but I'm an old timer who lived and played in Vegas long before it became a place for the kiddies, cell phones, computers and all the rest. Sharps had their runners lined up at phone booths to make their "calls"
One night at the Stardust (the only place a REAL PRO would place their action) myself and a few friends saw this literal "shady character" with sun glasses on at night and a coat pulled up around his neck and face as much as possible. As Holy God is my witness this turns out to be none other than Jerry Buss...owner of the L.A. Lakers.
I won't take the story any further other than to say IT WAS HIM and you can bet (no pun intended) that he "KNEW" or had GREAT influence in the outcomes of the games he bet before placing his wagers.
Officials bribed? Games fixed? Lines manipulated? Well, we can put a man on the moon, we have graft, vice, cheating and corruption in the highest echelons of our political, judicial, financial (Wall street),medical and military systems to name but a few and you don't believe that a basketball game can be fixed?
If you don't then I've got a bridge in New York City that I can sell you cheap!Comment -

The thing that bored me the most was the last 2:30 minutes...how can both teams play like that? And right in the end no one was playing real defense and they play like it's the same losing by 7-8 than by 17!!! No pride at least? Personal points record etc?? WTF....and D.Howard missing the first free throw and netting the second to a beautiful 205 (closing line)!!

I actually ended up playing MEM -8 for 4 units but didn't change it bcs I'm a lazy ass, so in the record I'll keep it as a +3.00 win
4-0 for the night, putting my mojo back on track
Even before the games tipoff I felted that those 4 plays were my best capp this season, the work that I have being doing to get the numbers (specially the totals) are starting to payoff. I wanted to bet the LAL x IND OVER as well as the CHA x MEM OVER but this past two weeks things are running so crappy (50-50) that I was lacking some confidence. The same can be said when I had the trigger to press MEM-8 for 8 units but I chickened out and went for half of that!
Memphis bet was like a no-brainer, the line started at MEM-7; public sided for CHA (60-65% during the day) and the line goes MEM -8.5 and at MEM -9 on my book (bet365 - always a good sign if I am on the same side that my book is when they change the line even for a hook from the average). Add to that CHA play sh*t on the road and that MEM has really a more than average good team.

Phenom, if you're unsure about the over on the Lakers game then just pick a different game where you have a better feel on. Its friday and there are plenty of games to choose from or maybe just follow Joana.Comment -

I think the line is set high enough to bet the over but u can catch a lousy lakers game and see the total go under by 20 points or more! U have to question yourself one other thing will the 76ers keep rolling beating spreads? If yes I guess the over is a lock

Lakers loving playing to their opponents' level. I myself am playing the over. Kobe is going to want to put on a show for his friends and family, i have a friend who went to his high school and they are actually opening up the new gym kobe donated. I can see this game going up and down and alot of scoring. It has gone up from 196.Comment -
