Stephen A smith, makes good point on Lebron departure
When being compared to MJ, Magic and Bird, all three of those greats were never in the same situation as Lebron. They all lived in big cities, that had attractive nightlife, things to do and see on daily basis. Cleveland is a waste dump compared to the plethora amount of things you can do in SoCal(Clubs/Beaches/Malls),Boston(Just hours from Manhattan/Time square), and Chicago(Without a doubt the most attractive city up North).

When you thinks about it, it was an easy choice for MJ, Magic, and Bird to stay where they're at. Because it's fun living their. Plus they all eventually got helped along the way, because people wanted to play in those cities. This is why Cleveland will never be a serious contender. No NBA players wants to play in town with nothing to do, especially when your young and rich. If you just recently looked at the top most single Cities in the US, it's Chicago #1, LA #11, while Cleveland ranks right in the bottom 29 or 30.

In fairness to the Lebron, those guys would had never would won a NBA championship with his team, except maybe MJ. And Stephen A. Smith seems to be the only sport analyst smart enough to get the whole picture.

They are there to play basketball, who cares if there isnt anything to do in the city. When the season is over leave the area.

that argument doesn't hold water... its the nba, these guys are in a different city every night.. they can live whereever they want in the offseason...

this decision wasnt about night life and things to do on an off day... it was about lebron being a coward and not having much self confidence to get the job done without piggybacking d wade.. and he was tired of hearing about no rings. so he took the easiest route in his mind to get one asap

How about the fact that Magic, Bird, and Jordan all had future NBA hall of famers (in thier prime) to help them compete. Don't give me this garbage about a 40 year old Shaq or the one season (when he was 18) that he played with Boozer. Dude wants to win and the management in Cleveland wasn't doing anything to help him.

its not that he left, its how he did it

quit during the playoffs, then had an 1 hour special on espn to tell everyone hes going to MIA. what a self absorbed clown.

The difference between Magic, Bird and MJ is that they already had great players around them and thus had no reason to leave. Kareem, Worthy, Parrish, McHale, Pippen, and even after those they had other very good role players like Scott, Ainge, Kukoc, Grant, Rodman.

Exactly. Stephen A. Smith is an IDIOT. Good point my A$S!!

What a ridiculous statement to defend LeBron's self-promotion circus.

Nothing to do? The Cleveland metro area has more than 3 million people and the city itself is as big as Miami.

What exactly doesn't Cleveland have that "young and rich" ballers want to do?

Besides, is he not rich enough to have access to a Gulfstream that can fly him around at the speed of sound anywhere in the country in 3 hours? He can live anywhere in the offseason.

It's also ridiculous to say that MJ, Bird and Magic couldn't have won a title in Cleveland - those players are transcendent. LeBron just ensured that he will never be anything but a fame and money whore who sucks on Wade's sweaty, salty balls.

Don't worry Cleveland - as Seth Meyers said at the ESPY's,

"Literally every team that has ever won an NBA championship has done it without LeBron James"

People love to live in the world of make believe where players and owners lay awake at night stressing over championships.

The chance to leave behind Ohio winters would have been enough for most people, but to be the main piece of the new "superstar triad" in the NBA in a city like Miami? C'mon already.

Look at the quality of the women who sit courtside in places like LA versus places like Cleveland....then come back and tell me how great the arts district and bar scene is.

The dude is 25 - don't lie and say 99% wouldn't bolt in the same situation.

Ah, The Old Arcade in Cleveland. No other city in the United States has one like it; in fact only Milan and Buenos Aires have anything comparable- in the entire world.

Exactly. Stephen A. Smith is an IDIOT. Good point my A$S!!

Stephen A. Smith is annoying, but the guy isn't no dumbass like 60% of the folks talk. I'm not his biggest fan but Dude is very articulate.

Nothing to do? The Cleveland metro area has more than 3 million people and the city itself is as big as Miami.

Yeah, and having the same amount of population still doesn't give you the nice weather, beach scene, and 10x hotter women does it!

What exactly doesn't Cleveland have that "young and rich" ballers want to do?

Like that Jokin Naoh quote, "Does anyone ever says hey I'm going on vaction to Cleveland". That within itself, will prove that there ain't sh1t to do their, since Jokin Noah lived in both NYC and Florida. And I lived in Minny once, before living in both Dallas and SoCal. The Northern states sux, no one comes out once it starts snowing. Not a good place for rich young ballers who's needs go out and flex off his rolex and Lamborghini.

Besides, is he not rich enough to have access to a Gulfstream that can fly him around at the speed of sound anywhere in the country in 3 hours? He can live anywhere in the offseason.

Why do that, when going home to your Miami beach front Mansion is already like taking a vacation everyday within itself. The great thing is, it's free and you don't have travel anywhere for hours!

It's also ridiculous to say that MJ, Bird and Magic couldn't have won a title in Cleveland - those players are transcendent. LeBron just ensured that he will never be anything but a fame and money whore who sucks on Wade's sweaty, salty balls.

I said Jordan maybe with the current Lebron Cleveland squad, because he basically just had one premier player in Scottie Pippen in his first 3 championship run. So I believe he's the only one truly proven that he could play with less. Magic had 3 eventual HOF(Worthy,Jabbar,Bob McAdoo). Bird he had 5 eventual HOF( Bill Walton, Dennis Johnson, Tiny Archibald, Robert Parrish, Kevin Mchale).

Who does Lebron have,I don't even see a complementary player cracking the the 200 NBA player of all time do I.
Washup non-factor Shaq does not count.

Don't worry Cleveland - as Seth Meyers said at the ESPY's,

Yes be very worry Cleveland, the last time your football team was close to making it to the Superbowl was in 1986,1987, and 1989 all lost to Denver in the AFC championship, it's been like 21 years now! The same will be said about the CAVs, because no elite NBA players wants to play in Cleveland.

I think the point is that Bosh didn't want to go to Cleveland because it was not as desirable as Miami. If Bosh goes to Cleveland Lebron stays. Maybe we should blame Bosh?

Although Miami fans are quite apathetic they are far classier and better looking. I probably would never step foot in the state of Ohio again unless I had to.

Miami tends to get more tourist (European and Latin America) but in terms of woman that actually live in the city, Cleveland may have more beautiful woman than Miami. Anyone that knows both cities would actually choose Cleveland over Miami w/o the snow. Miami is a very boring city if you actually ever lived there. Everytime I hear people say great things about Miami, I know they've never lived there. Great place to visit for a few days but horrible place to live. I know...

I've been courtside in LA and it far exceeds Miami or Cleveland but most of them have high baggage. I use to hang out at the Forum Club where the Lakers use to play and the woman there knew players salaries better than a GM. Go to the Clipper games if you want the down to earth woman.

These guys are in a different city every night. Woman are not hard to find/access. Bottom line is that Lebron could have brought Wade and Bosh to Cleveland if he was a true leader. He could have told the Cav's to dump salary to make it happen a year ago. He could have committed to Cleveland years ago but it's now obvious he didn't want to.
