so you honestly think that when la gave up 108 to the Hornets that was max defensive effort? i dont think there is anything magical about the switch they flip but it is certainly there how many times you heard the phrase "playoff basketball" or a team isnt "playoff tested" all phrases that point to the level of intensity picking up during the playoffs.... La wasnt the team that blew NBA's dream matchup last year it was your team and it wont be La this year kobe/bron finals NBA where predictability happens (as long as your team holds up there end)

I'm far more worried about Orlando than I am about the Lakers. The Lakers aren't tough enough to stick with the Cavs.

Not a meaningless game. The Lakers should be taking potential playoff matchup teams seriously right now, especially at home. They showed no fight whatsoever. Losing by 19 at home is embarrassing.

genius - the lakers have clinched home court, while the spurs are jockeying for playoff position. they are in a 3-way tie for the 6,7,8 spot, and the 8 spot has to play the lakers in the first round. the spurs have EVERY motivation to win this gm to stay out of the race to avoid the 8th spot (along w/portland or oklahoma city).

learn the gm of sports or STFU

If it was such a meaningless game why would the lakers play their starters?

because david stern runs the league and no resting starters is allowed until the last gm. this isn't the NFL, son

LMAO - just found this article right after posting the above statement about the spurs not wanting the 8th seed

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich knows his team is the seventh seed in the West thanks to its two-game winning streak and wants no part of falling back into the eighth seed and a playoff matchup with the top-seeded Lakers.

dude, i'm a laker hater not a fan, but you guys running your mouths are clueless. so many championship teams have tanked the reg season over the yrs then turned it on and won the whole thing. how many of the laker teams with shaq and kobe finished first in the west? jordans guys 1st in the east? rockets with hakeem 1st in the west? go look it up. far fewer 1st place teams than you think

I know, I know, every Laker fan is going to come in here saying that the regular season doesn't matter and that they will turn it on in the playoffs. However, the Lakers haven't shown an ability to flip that switch this year. As I kept saying around the trade deadline, they screwed up majorly by not getting Hinrich when they could have. Now you have the most unproductive starter in the league (Fisher), a center who is injured worse than people thought, Gasol playing without much confidence, and tension building within the team. The Lakers have a tough next week or two, let's see if they can turn things around and go into the playoffs on a positive note.

Willy you know alot about basketball but young guys like you never understand the inner workings of the game. The Los Angeles Lakers dont look like a long shot right now do they. stop buying all the espn kool aid and learn that the SMART teams dont waste there energy beating the nets of the world.

This is why I get so much enjoyment heckling Cavs fans. This thread was atypical of what they've done nothing all season --- put the Lakers under a microscope, scrutinizing their every move as if their team had done anything recently.

                                    Enjoy your off-season Cavs fans.

Boston played incredibly well. Their offensive execution in game 5 was the single best of any playoff team so far.
