#37most of us were surprised when:
09 - magic beat the cavs to make the finals
07 - cavs beat the pistons to make the finals
06 - heat beat pistons and mavs beat spurs, to make the finals
04 - pistons made and WON the finals
NONE of these teams above were ONE SEEDS. NONE OF THEM
MOST of us never saw this coming...........weve gotta think better than this, to locate the sleeper teams!Comment -

#38You can't possibly be trying to call the Lakers a sleeper team, right?Originally posted by hoopster42most or all of you were surprised when:

my point being, most or all of you are used to NOT seeing who the sleeper teams are to make the finals
and by the things i am reading in this thread, you are still clueless.Comment -

#39of course not. i'm talking about the teams beside the Lakers, Cavs, and Magic, who are major contenders to get to the finals this yr. look at my list above. NONE of them were 1 seedsOriginally posted by williams22You can't possibly be trying to call the Lakers a sleeper team, right?Comment -

#40Sure, other teams have a chance, that's not the point of this thread though. The point is to highlight the Lakers struggles and then sit back and watch all the Laker fans come running with the "they'll turn it on in the playoffs" excuseOriginally posted by hoopster42of course not. i'm talking about the teams beside the Lakers, Cavs, and Magic, who are major contenders to get to the finals this yr. look at my list above. #41the bulls did it in at least 4 of their 6 title runs........the rockets did it in BOTH of their title runs of 94 and 95 (4 seed and 5 seed). why not the lakers? yes i hate them also but why not them? do you honestly think the western conf champion the last 2 seasons and defending world champ gives a flying fukk about the reg season right now?Originally posted by williams22Sure, other teams have a chance, that's not the point of this thread though. #46unfortunately for laker fans they are not gonna make it far in the playoffs. they are not the team they used to be between their inability to stay healthy and kobe's age. most importantly they need to keep gasol and bynum happy because kobe wont be there too much longer and when he leaves its up to them if the 2 of them are still lakers, and if they are not then the lakers will need to begin the rebuilding processComment -

#49i hope you're right 'cause i want the lakers to lose but kobe's only 31 and yea 13 yrs in the league but the dude takes great care of himself and gasol, odom in their primes and bynum coming back healthy is scary. nothing would make me happier than the lakers losing in the playoffs but i dont see the western conf having a chance except for ONE team (look in my thread about the lakers and i'll tell you) and only ONE team in the east has a chance but they need to get orlando out of their heads.Originally posted by Bankroll$10unfortunately for laker fans they are not gonna make it far in the playoffs. they are not the team they used to be between their inability to stay healthy and kobe's age. most importantly they need to keep gasol and bynum happy because kobe wont be there too much longer and when he leaves its up to them if the 2 of them are still lakers, and if they are not then the lakers will need to begin the rebuilding processComment -

Thank god someone is finally saying it. The Lakers are not deep, period. And this article is coming from an LA writer.
"The Lakers' bench has been outscored by a combined 90-34 in the past two games and has made only 35.5 percent of their shots compared to 64.7 percent by the Hornets and Hawks." What a joke of a bench!Comment -

I know, I know, every Laker fan is going to come in here saying that the regular season doesn't matter and that they will turn it on in the playoffs. However, the Lakers haven't shown an ability to flip that switch this year. As I kept saying around the trade deadline, they screwed up majorly by not getting Hinrich when they could have. Now you have the most unproductive starter in the league (Fisher), a center who is injured worse than people thought, Gasol playing without much confidence, and tension building within the team. The Lakers have a tough next week or two, let's see if they can turn things around and go into the playoffs on a positive note.
So you think they flipped the switch tonight or Jazz forgot to flip there switch? Williams the lakers play when they are interested. They arent like the cavs who need to put on shows all the time. See when you are used to winning as a fan you dont worry much - cavs fans need there team to play well every night to feel better.Comment -

#59im a laker fan and we ****ing suck... im pissed cuz Kobe's shit performance tonight(5-23) might have ****ed me out of some money, having said that tonight's game, other than Kobe was encouraging, I do think the Mavericks have the best shot of unseating LA in the West but that won't happen... Denver is way too undisciplined to beat LA in a 7 game series and Utah will never win a game in Los Angeles, Dallas has a good mix I'm a little concerned about them but hopefully the Lakers will get it togetherComment -

#61C'mon LB don't give me this nonsense. They Lakers have looked like shit lately, and it hasn't been for lack of effort. It also hasn't been from lack of anger from Kobe.Originally posted by lakerboySo you think they flipped the switch tonight or Jazz forgot to flip there switch? Williams im not gonna argue with you pal. They clearly flipped the switch on last night. I already gave you proof they ended the season the same way last year. The lakers have won 9 of 12 games. The cavs have won 10 of 12. Unless you have lost money on them as a cavs fan you should be happy if you think they are playing like shit.Comment -

#68Laker fans seem to think there is some magical switch that can be flipped. It's not like the Lakers decided to win last night but decided to lose 3 or the 4 before that. The effort was still there, just not the execution. Yes, they are good enough to beat anyone on any given night, but they haven't shown any ability to do so consistently lately.Originally posted by lakerboyWilliams im not gonna argue with you pal.
