In reference to Payton who quoted my earlier post saying that the lakers couldn't even neutralize haslem, and all the other heat players. Didn't they beat the thuggets last week, granted it was at home. My point is, the lakers have played horribly the last 2 games but they show up for this one IMO. VC is looking really old and a lanky Lamar will give rashard fits. Like I said before, containing Howard and Nelson will be keys to the game for the lakers

Yeah I'm not arguing that the Lakers aren't a very capable team with a good chance to win.

I'm just saying it's a little presumptuous to just state that Dwight will not be a factor and Rashard and VC will be neutralized. That's like me saying "I'm betting on the Magic cuz they will completely neutralize Kobe and Gasol will be a non-factor".

I tend to agree with the Magic backers here...

I'm not buying into all this Laker hype. Kobe is good but he doesn't have an "easy" button to automatically make the Lakers win. I mean let's be serious, on the road against one of the best teams in the NBA- after failing to even come close against Charlotte. The "Lakers can't lose 3 in a row" argument doesn't warrant too much in this situation. Be careful Laker die-hards

Losers of two straight, the frustrated Lakers didn't so much practice Sunday outside Orlando as hold a proverbial state of the state meeting. (As opposed to the state of The State.) As he said he might after Friday's loss to Charlotte, Kobe Bryant had a few choice words. Reports Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles.com:

"...While the discussion began in strategy, Bryant interjected his thoughts about desire. "We were working on some of the principles and [Bryant] brought up a notion of determination," (Phil) Jackson said. "There's a willfulness that you have to have in this game and there's also a flexibility and the willfulness carries the day most of the time, about 80 percent of the time. There's strategy and then there's getting the job done." When asked if his message to his teammates was well received, a stoic Bryant said, "I don't give a [expletive]. ... It was received..."

Jackson made it clear Bryant wasn't the only player speaking, which is important. They have a team problem, and the team needs to be engaged in fixing it. As to whether or not it'll matter, we'll all find out Sunday afternoon against the Magic (11:30 am PT, ABC).
