Yes with Drew Gooden, Sasha Pavlovic, and Larry Hughes starting. What a joke of a team that was, yet Lebron managed to carry them to the finals.

For those who are deadset on Kobe over Lebron, you must have zero appreciation for good team ball. If you put Lebron on the Lakers in place of Kobe they would threaten (and most likely beat) the Bulls 72 game record. Odom and Gasol would be all-stars every year. Thank god Kobe doesn't play like that or I'd be scared.

So why wasn't it the Lakers that was there to sweep the Cavs? Lebron did carry them that year, and probably single handily beat the Pistons himself. You could be the best player in the NBA, and not win a championship, not until you get a team around you. See Michael Jordan.

he got his team to the finals in a weaker conference, he went against the wizards in the 1st round, while kobe has to face the suns, who told you kobe doesn't have to play pg, can he depend on lamar and smush that time? kobe just doesn't have the right team with him that time, when you have smush as your starting pg it's almost recipe for disaster.

lakers got smoked because of the inconsistency of lamar and gasol, the lakers needed them to deliver, the two bigs just got punked by kg and perkins, how can kobe come through if he gets double or triple teamed whenever he touches the ball? and besides look at boston's defense back then there were plenty of fouls that were not called
