#111Williams, do you remember me telling you today in this thread or another that somebody else would step up for the Cavs tonite... D-up LA and hold them into the eighties in points??? What they get 87 points?? Before the game I figured they would get 88.. I was thinking big tonite.. Cle 99 LA 88, but 93-87 did alright..Originally posted by williams22

#114I didn't disagree with you. The tough part for me is separating myself as a fan from myself as a gambler. I wanted to take the Cavs badly here but couldn't do it as I felt I was just being biased.Originally posted by lyon804Williams, do you remember me telling you today in this thread or another that somebody else would step up for the Cavs tonite... However, this was an absolutely great win for the Cavs. They gutted this one out and just fought harder than LA. Anyone who says the Cavs aren't the team to beat right now or Lebron isn't the MVP needs their head examined.
Cheers to those who picked the Cavs tonight. Congrats on the win

#115Unfortunately there are still a few who don't have a complete understanding of the game. Despite Lebron having an off shooting night, he scored 1.48 points per shot compare to Kobe's 1 point/shot. He also had 9 assists and 5 rebounds compared to Kobe's 4 and 2.Originally posted by IrishTimDoes anyone even still argue that Kobe is better? I went 10X on the Cavs ML -3.5 ,-3.. I got bad numbers on the ML and the spread, but fortunately it didn't hurt.Originally posted by williams22I didn't disagree with you. to you sir! I wish I could have pulled the trigger, I was just too weary that my fandom was clouding my judgment.
Thank you! Someone else realizes the truth! The Lakers aren't playing anywhere near championship level ball right now. It may be good enough to get through the West, but they can't handle the Cavs in 7 games. They are 9-7 on the road, pitiful.Originally posted by Grandmaster BThe Fakers arent winning this yearComment -

I can't claim this... It don't belong to me, but I have used it many times to cash tickets.
Regardless, if Cavs are a better team or not, you must respect the fact the Lakers are the "public favorite"... Now I am talking Joe Pub... Not gambling America... or at least not winning gambling america.Comment -

#125Lebron is MVP. I don't see how the cavs lose, and if they do it would be in the Finals. They should run through Orlando/Boston this year. Shaq will get Dwight in foul trouble early every game. It seems Shaq was/is the missing piece.Comment -

1Los Angeles Lakers Point Spread
2Louisville Point Spread
3Los Angeles Lakers Money Line
4Cleveland Cavaliers Point Spread
5Los Angeles Clippers Point Spread
6Florida Point Spread
7Denver Nuggets Point Spread
8Indiana U Point Spread
9Los Angeles Lakers Over
10Washington U Point Spread
These are the top 10 bets as of about 6:30. When I see a team both in the top 5 for the Spread and ML I have to bet the other way. So much money on LAL. No way the books take the hit. I also bet SH over Lou too because of this information. GL to everyone.

#127thats retarded....4 years ago that was a legitimate argument...and most people sided with brady...im a patriots fan/season ticket holder....i did not go to indy this year...but i was there the two previous years...and in 2007 when we were leaving our seats in the rca dome...most of the colts fans in our section, who had heckled us all day, shook our hands...and some of them were telling us they thought brady was the better qb even though we never brought that topic up in conversationOriginally posted by IrishTimDoes anyone even still argue that Kobe is better? #128public favorite meaning a certain bet % that day? or a common publicy backed team like the lakers/celtics?Originally posted by lyon804"WHENEVER A PUBLIC FAVORITE IS A UNDERDOG IN A GAME TAKE THE FAVORITE"
last nights example wont happen too often - which makes these type of plays a nice one to pound when they do arise.
you can make a Lyons Autobet

Yes, I certainly can't claim credit for this. I have had it for a long time. Don't remember were I heard it from. Your right it doesn't arise often, but it pertains to Public favorites not betting percentages. Like you said.. teams like Boston/Lakers.. Well know winners with tradition. It has been a cash cow with Lakers this year and it has won evertime I believe.
Remember when the Lakers were road dogs to Utah,Phoenix,Dallas, and now Cavs??
Do you know the outcomes.. The favorite covered everytime except Dallas. I didn't play that one because of the injuries to Lakers.
Cavs were a big play last nite because they were favored over the public favorite and they had a starter injured.
If you notice everytime a starter is out for a team they still win or cover the first game after the news is known?
So Basically a perfect storm auto bet
Lakers public favorite, but underdog playing against a team that just lost a starter and still favored???
I am convinced after reading my own BS I should have bet more money.
Obviously, this exact scenario will not be seen for quite sometime, but public favorite being a dog is enough.
By the way Dex... Love your Boston pick... Looks way to high of a line and the public thinks so too. For all purposes I still think like Joe Pub, but over time I have basically in a way learned to fade my own thinking... Which is profitable. I don't have to cap.. I can go down the board with my joe pub hat on.. see what looks good and bet the opposite.
After all that.. Is still do a little more than look at the board and fade myself

#131Good point! Right on! 4 of 5 lost as well! I sometimes bet with the public still, but seem to regret it more times than not. If it looks to good it is usually a risky proposition. Those were the top bets for most people because they looked good. That way of thinking has cost me a fortune over the years.Originally posted by GGPLAYERTop 3 bets lost last night. #132By the way Dex.. I like your autobets and ideas... Sometimes we all worry about the number too much. Sometimes you need to forget the number and just play your stuff.
I am a little warped by the way. Taking the Lakers was probably the right play, but at the wrong time.. I think Phil Jackson and Gasol had an outcome in that game. Did you see how long Kobe set the bench to start the 4th?? He never sits that long in a close game. Half of the 4th was gone when he entered. I realize my way of thinking isn't popular around here, but I believe their is something to it. Why did Shannon Brown and Farmar not get the playing time they have earned?? They were lights out against Orlando and the primary reason they won that game and they were rewarded by less playing time?? Who would you rather have playing for you at this stage in their careers... Brown/Farmar or Derek Fisher??Comment -

#133exactly.....this was something that my old pal CK taught me. as much as some people hate on him for his used car salesman shit, he does know how to deep cap a game. this was one of the things he taught me.Originally posted by lyon804Cavs were a big play last nite because they were favored over the public favorite and they had a starter injured.

and what ive noticed, is that playing these teams with their star out at home is the way to go....get that inflated line and take the short handed team. reserves step in with the crowd behind them and get it done.
im gonna pay attention to that theory you have. it makes complete sense.
but what teams fit the system for you? i would think:
-lakers
-celts
-cavs
-magic
one thing i know for sure - over the last 3 years the lakers and magic are cash cows as underdogs....that was one of the reasons i jumped on the lakers at +4 the other night. i tend to never bet the lakers as a favorite b/c you just never know when they will decide to bring their A game.Comment -

#134i try and create autobets to help take the square out of me...we all have a little joe public in us. plus, it helps take out the emotion of capping a game if you're running bad. i know i for sure get more conservative etc when im cold.....i get afraid to make plays that i normally would.Originally posted by lyon804By the way Dex.. im not one to ever say "i lost but had the right side"...no crying in gambling. the cavs won the ticket and were the right side. the only time i can understand someone complaining is when you have an under and the game gets to OT.
but yeah, gasol choked it up - i dont have a problem with fisher playing in crunch time....hes a clutch shooter.
heres an autobet that has yet to arise this year (unless i missed one)
(A3) fade any team coming off an overtime game when they travel into denver or utah the next night (back to back) for a min of 5x. the jazz and nuggets must be playing on at least 1 days restComment
