These are the notes that I have today from The Laboratory numbers

NBA November 22, 2013 :


PHI ats is a solid pick considering that the lines are so far apart. The MIL ats numbers comes more from PHI having a bad game instead of MIL keeping it close. with the new adjustment that MIL AST line reduces to 54.545


WAS ats is also weak since they are only getting 4.5 and the numbers say the line should be at least -9.5. So the play in this game is TOR ats and U


The IND number is dead on, their chances of covering with the adjusted are an inflated 66.7


ATL game is another dead on line. and a weak covering number for the hawks. risky choice


SA line seem very easy on the books but the adjusted ML of -3.5 shows that it could go either way here .


The MIN adjusted line is showing -5.5 for MIN and the books are giving away too many points to a BK.


NO adjusted line is pretty close because all the books are taking away is the one three pointer they get for being at home. too close to make it attractive


DAL line is another one right on point and the UTAH number is a weak advantage


POR line is at -10.5 and the books have it at one third of that. Big gap there ans the CHI number is in the sixties when adjusted


LAL is getting six when they should be getting at least nine but books are giving them that home court three pointer and the popularity of that team makes the books set the line to please all the zombie fans

yeah they are only four points better than ORL that is only a three pointer and a foul shot. they get the aoutomatic three pointer fr being at home so in this game they were only a foul shot better if you think about it. See the following post perhaps it will help. Plus a 66% Ml is pretty low number brother.

Ok so the numbers would look something like this

MON ATS 59.228

MON MAC O 67.841

MAC ML 89.225 -13.5


In this scenario the numbers say that the probability that Monte Carlo covers the line that is set by the books is at 59.228%. The chances of the game going over 185.5 points is 67.841 and the chances of Macau winning the game Straight up are 89.225%.

The numbers can be used in many, many different ways. Using this particular example. You would likely take Macau to cover the spread since the line set is at -4 and they are really 13.5 points better than Monte Carlo you would lay the points since the true line should be set at -13.5 not -4 and the probability that MON covers that 4 point spread is only at 59.228% anyway.

Same thing if the spread situation is reversed. If the ML number according to The Laboratory is -4 and the line at the books is set at -13.5 then you take the points since the true difference between the two teams is 4 points and they are giving you 13.5.

This is just one way that the numbers can be used. Like I said before there are SO MANY OTHER ways to use these numbers but frankly I don’t feel like writing about it right now.
