F1 always takes a 'summer break' this time of year, at half way point of season.

Engine mapping is a little hard to explain. Teams can adjust how their engine will behave when the driver is on the throttle. Almost create a sort of track control.

I'm not sure if that makes sense, but the idea of engine mapping is creating the most ideal engine horsepower. Or 'torque curve'.

F1 Engines are controlled by electronics, and software programs. There are many variables, but the aim is to get the power down as quickly and easily as possible.
