Here's an early AFL trend to follow: fade teams coming off the bye. So far both teams with byes have lost by wide margins. We might say Suns last week was just a pure mismatch but I think there's some logic for this trend to develop. AFL players aren't used to a weeks rest. Their bodies are clocked for a hard game every week and not playing a game for 12-14 days is a real disadvantage.

Melbourne smashed Adelaide by nearly 100, hard to see why Collingwood aren't likely to do the same.

Also - have you been watching the Eagles GNP? They have been a beast of a team out West. Inconsistent in the 2nd half, but a really strong side. Would back them to beat, or get close to beating anyone but Geelong/Collingwood right now.

Collingwood had covered every spread this season til last week. I think they'll demolish Adelaide. Carlton could have beaten Adelaide by more than 50 few weeks ago if they kicked straight.
