#37word through arnold palmers connections is that Tigers game is "rough"
Arnold also agrees with the idea that tiger will struggle not having played any competitive golf in so long
"just hitting balls" isn't enough according to himComment -

#38None of you are competitive golfers so you cannot put yourself in the mindset of one. Coming from a A-10 college golfer, I am telling you Tiger will not win this tournament. You people don't understand how hard it is to play on the level when Tiger is on. It will be absolutely impossible for him to play at that level with so many factors against him. To get to the level Tiger was, he was doing something every single minute of the day to make himself better. The last few months he has been in and out of rehabs, staying in hiding and stressed as shit. Now you people think he is going to hit the range two weeks before the biggest golf tournament in the world and win it? This isn't tennis where there is only a select few who can take out Federer. Every single dude in that field has the game to beat Tiger, he will not even sniff the top five.Comment -

#40This is becoming laughable the way some are viewing this and evaluating this,.......... some "because they play golf as an amatuer". By the way, yes, I've golfed my entire adult life.
99% of this forum and the country as a whole are giving TIGER(TOAST) very little chance to win this event and some are suggesting with their remarks that he should be about even money not to even make the cut at Augusta.
YET, HE IS THE CURRENT FAVORITE TO WIN THIS EVENT BY A SEMI-LARGE MARGIN OVER ANYONE ELSE!
ODDS TO WIN MASTERS at MATCHBOOK at this time.........
TOP THREE
TIGER +480
PHIL +880
HARRINGTON +1500
AS CONFIDENT AS SOME OF YOU ARE THAT HE WILL NOT WIN THIS EVENT, I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU BEGIN TO START UNLOADING ON THE "NO" AT MATCHBOOK FOR HIM TO WIN, AS YOU HAVE DEMONSTRTED THAT YOU ARE 30X MORE CONFIDENT OF HIM NOT WINNING THIS EVENT THEN I AM THINKING HE HAS A ONE IN FOUR CHANCE AT WORST TO WIN THE GREEN JACKET.Comment -

#41By the way, let this be known.........
I totally respect the opinions of each and everyone of you here and in no way want to come away as thinking I don't respect your opinions, BECAUSE I CERTAINLY DO!!......(even though some do make me chuckle).
So much so that I will be reducing the amount of my intended wager on this event.
THANKS FOR YOUR THOUGHTS..........Comment -

#51Everyone who is saying its such a long layoff .A few years ago he basically played the majors with some other tourneys sprinkled in.I won't be betting him cause there are plenty of other guys who can win at 25-1 and higher like Anthony Kim,Lee Westwood, Steve Stricker, and a handful of others. Its all about the zone athletes get in where its sort of an unconscious effort. With him especially,if he finds that zone its game over. With the Open being at St Andrews this year, I'll be backing Tiger there for sure.Comment -

#54Fish, not sure where you are getting your odds but Els is going off at 8-1.
And Steve Stricker is also going off at better odds than Harrington.
If tournament golf wasn't very important to Tiger----he wouldn't have said the reason he played Bay Hill every year was to prepare for Augusta. Woods' himself has repeatedly said he prepares for the Majors by playing events close to the Majors.Comment -

I mean, step back and look at it more.
Woods has NOT won the Master's in 5 years---and that is when he was at his absolute best in terms of preparation having played tournament golf prior to the event.
Woods also hasn't won a Major since the Open in 08. Is he the best player in the world? Obviously.
But his lack of tournament golf---something he has always talked about if you have followed him---is important here.
I would be stunned if Woods' finished in the top 10.
Best of luck if you play it.Comment -

Then you should be POUNDING THE NO at anything less the 5-1
Currently at Matchbook one can lay -490 that he will not win.Comment -

#61Fish, the only reason he's the favorite is because the books know the majority of weak money will be bet on him. It has nothing to do with him actually winning. I'm glad he's back because the golfers who actually should be favored will be getting better prices.Comment -

#62Tiger will not win a tournament this year. book it. its going to be a while before he gets his swagger back.. he is going to be very conscious of the perception of him on the golf course... you aren't going to see the fist pumps...you aren't going to see the temper tantrums... you are going to see zero emotion from him.. and he feeds off emotionComment -

#64I reckon no prize 4 tig just yet. Remember golf can mess with your head if your not 110% focused n they can up the anti all they like for this 1 but there'll be an incident for sure - the gallery v tig = max pressure getting that thing in the hole..Comment -

#70I don't think anyone is throwing him into the trash heap.
He is still the most talented golfer in the world.
The issue many have is the fact that this is his first return to competitive golf----with a first for him----a media hungry to embarrass him.
And he has no idea how the fans will react.
Tiger has not won the Masters in 5 years----that is with better preparation.
I just don't see it.Comment
