After careful consideration we ruled Lovemark out and classified him as a bad bet. Sometimes in golf it can be easier to rule out players when trying to find a winner. In the end it was felt that he had too much pga tour dot com press, as well as other press.

I've had players "ruled out" (regardless of the metric to say why) be the tournament winners. It will happen a couple of times a season. It's hard to tell when but early on it could be the case.

He's -2 through 67 holes and off to a great start. He looks to be a threat early.

If there's a surprise this week, he's put himself in position, even though there are two different courses to play over the next two days. It seems the Stadium Course may be a bit tougher, there should be plenty of room to make up for mistakes on all courses. I think we see some low scores the next two days.

              Good Luck.

Interesting Tour Predictor on that site. I also think those write-ups aren't bad. He says all three courses had a Tournament Stimp of 10.5 and 11 ft.

That's pretty fast considering USGA calls fast 8.5 and suggests the US Open play at 10.5 ft.

I like his course summaries and bookmarked the site. If shows to be accurate, it could make for some quick research at one place.

Martin Laird has always loved playing his golf in the western United States and the Glaswegian, as you'd expect, is more than okay with Poa Annua within putting surfaces. His first top-5 on the PGA Tour was at Montreux (Arizona) back in 2008, which he backed up 12 months later with a runner-up finish - as we know, Montreux is a long Par 72 which features Bentgrass/Poa Annua greens. He didn't have to wait long for his 1st PGA Tour victory which came in October 2009 at TPC Summerlin in Nevada. His CV also contains 2nd (2012) and 4th (2010) at Kapalua, 3rd (2011) and 5th (2015) at TPC Scottsdale (Arizona), another 2nd place finish at TPC Summerlin (2010 when defending) and 3rd at Silverado (2015) - a course again which features Bentgrass/Poa Annua.

His current run of form also includes 8th at Silverado, 27th at TPC Summerlin, 13th at Mayakoba and 9th last week at PGA West - so that's another couple of California top 10s. But dig deeper and you see that the upwardly mobile Scot has plenty of correlating course form on classical/technical tracks. Wins at Bay Hill (2011) and TPC San Antonio (2013) were both on hard golf courses. 7th (2008) and 2nd (2010) at Ridgewood jump off the page as both feature Poa Annua and as recently as late August Laird was 4th after 54 holes at Bethpage Black. Remember he was also 2nd at the classical Glen Abbey last July. So after finishing 7th and 8th here on his last 2 visits, I can see Martin - who is now putting at a far more competitive level (19th in Putting Average season to date) on top of his trademark ball-striking - playing well this week at a nice each-way price.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet but I'm currently looking at Brendan Steele at long odds here.

Often times I try to construct a leaderboard for Sunday, if even to have equity to go live.

I think Steele has a chance to be up there.

Lefty cheap against Paul Casey int he tournament matchup, very cheap.

I expect Phil to be flirting with the leaderboard Sunday, if not be in it.

I took Mickelson -110 over Casey for the tournament.

feel free to go all the way back for tracking record.
I went back into the thread, some good stuff. I have a few plays posted but the notable are the time Zach Johnson, who was my bet, was about to putt when someone in a boat behind blew some kind of air horn.

Johnson jumped into the air...lol...I lost that bet.

And then the 4th of July where I was only betting the Americans and they both chunked in extra holes...lost those bets as well.

That goes back to like 2015. For this season this thread has seen from me over 20 units with a handful of losses.

I've already been posting all of my golf plays for this season in another thread and am tracking them there. This thread has only seen a few plays from me.

If I was down, I would spreadsheet it here, but I am up quite a bit, and that's just not as exciting...it's expected.

Good Job CWD. Between the my 16-1 and his 50-1 this thread has done well and a can absorb a lot of losses and still be ahead.

                                                  Nice work.
