With 'I'll Have Another' out of the race, if you had boxed the next three horses in an exacta you would have won. As mentioned, I passed, because I didn't see value in doing so.
The pace was slower than projected. My own opinion (not reflected in the numbers) that Union Rags (98 projection) can only run one number was also accurate, because he won with -yet another- 96 Beyer. In that sense, he benefited from Smith slowing down the pace as much as he did.
