Saratoga Contest 8/10/11 thru 9/5/11

Trainer David Jacobson is sharp as a tack.He knew J Shepherd wins all the hurdle races at the spa and Shepherd was was using the claimer as a prep for Mabou.So he claimed it for 30k and wins a GI the very next race which was probably where Shepherd was going to run him.

I know the 7 fell but I don't think anybody else did. I wish they would do away with these races, there to dangerous.

Just received some info on these types of races and the outcome of the horse that fell that makes me feel better about it...

These clowns at Saratoga don't know what they are doing, you have a huge weekend card, and you know its going to rain.


Announce 30 minutes before todays card that you are taking everything off but the lousy steeplechase race and be proactive for once, keep the main track onlys in, and give the bettors a chance to put together reasonable exotic wagers, saving your turf for the major day.

any thoughts about doing these meet long contests in the fall for say keenland, belmont or santa anita?

I think I'm done with the Spa, handicapping these scratch races aren't fun or profitable. I hate to wave the white flag of surrender, especially since it looks like I'm quitting while I'm behind (lets be honest I was a longshot to win with all these great cappers anyways, and certainly not probably not going to do it spotting the field tons of cash), but this is just ridiculous and feels like a waste of time.

YW and yeah It was before the race that I noticed Jacobson claimed Mabou and immediately it sparked my interest but I got hung up on the foreign horse(3) that was running big RPR figs over there as well as running against Fame and Glory who was the best marathoner in England the last few years.
I was thinking about doing something like this for the Gulfstream meet.

My Mom lives in Somers Point, NJ and their evacuating all of route 9 west now and probably route 9 east next. Preparing for the worse. Casinos in AC already closing till Monday.
