guess you mean also won their comeback race off a layoff .. deterministic would be one..the big thing with this is "when"..doing it in the 2nd leg of a ky derby prep series is a nice accomplishment ..they both did that

#40I was thinking about the "coaches" horse "seize the grey". Depending on how he does in his next race Could use the one-mile $200,000 Hot Springs S. on Mar. 23 as a bridge to a Kentucky Derby points race at Keeneland—either the $1-million G1 Blue Grass S. Apr. 6 or the $400,000 G3 Lexington S. April 13. according to Lukas.Originally posted by JBEXguess you mean also won their comeback race off a layoff .. deterministic would be one..the big thing with this is "when"..doing it in the 2nd leg of a ky derby prep series is a nice accomplishment ..they both did that

#41I think that would be a good spot for him but the blue grass comes up too quick..could possibly see the Lexington..week later and weaker field..still 3 weeks is kind of quick but I believe Lukas is and has been for a while aggresive with spotting themOriginally posted by batt33I was thinking about the "coaches" horse "seize the grey". #44If you watch the last race.... first race back.... Lukas just wanted a race to get him. won the 1 1/16 and on the gallop out no horse went by him....Originally posted by JBEXI say it also because of the pedigree..high class and stamina top and bottom
Funny thing about watching him from the top of the stretch.... his head motion and how he was doing it reminded of one of my all time ultimate favorite horses the old man " John Henry" ....
call me crazy... Its all good!Comment -

#45being it's a listed stakes the hot springs is meant to attract at least 1 horse from a race like that..maybe others who couldn't quite hack the prep series and some out-of-towners..need some opportunities for horses like these to run also..I think a derby shot is remote and probably the only way would be winning a race like the lexington just to have enough pointsOriginally posted by batt33If you watch the last race.... first race back.... #53They decided to bypass the Oaklawn race .... #54didn't think about derby points and it's an obvious consideration.. if he ran in the oaklawn race the only other realistic race (considering spacing) to get him in would've been the lexington stakes and the points are less for that one..who knows;he may like the tapeta surfaceOriginally posted by batt33They decided to bypass the Oaklawn race .... #56without question his dam sire "smart strike" is a top 5 that I've seen for getting a high class turf or dirt runner..could bode well for liking tapeta .. not enough alone to put me on him but I feel it's a positiveOriginally posted by batt33Yea, I think that's why they are pointing for the Jeff Ruby. #62Can't complain about how "Sieze the Grey" ran.... just needed a little more to get second. I wonder if the winner is going to the derby the trainer said he was looking at the undercard on Derby day before he ran this race.Comment -

Also been nominated to the Lexington... Coach going old school..... as far as racing into shape instead of training into shape.
As long as the horse indicates he can handle it.... I'm good with it...Comment -
