#249DRF Race of the Day- The Super Derby @ Louisana Downs going 1 1/8 on dirt. The expert @ DRF picked the 6-Victory Nor Defeat ML 8-1. I think that at 8-1, it is definitely worth a shot. He thinks that the 4-Vicar's in Trouble ML favorite is vulnerable, but I personally thinks that he is a just cut of this group. With Rosie back on the mount, I think she won't necessary duel to a fast pace. I think she will just sit outside of the front runner, 3-Ide Be Cool and then put him away turning for home. To me, the question is who will run second and third?? I believe that there are a few here that are definitely worth a shot with a long price. I think that the 6, 9 and 11 all have a good shot at place and show. So I am gonna play a trifecta: 4/ 1, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11/ 1, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11.

#250Looks like quite a few horses want the lead.I'm going with 2 LA breds.3-Ide Be Cool 15-1 held pretty damn well last race despite setting a crazy pace on a dead track.Agree that Vicar's In Trouble is a class above these and M Maker owns Louisiana Derby Day.Seems like he has 3 or 4 winners on this card every year. Those two are most likely to survive the pace fight and then it comes down to which closer will try to run them down.To me it's between Victory Nor Defeat, East Hall , and 5-Louisiana Flyboy 10-1.Two are 3rd off layoff but the 5 looks more progressive and Eramia rides the track regularly while Prado is just here for the day.Think the 10 is in store for wide trip or too far back.
5-Louisian Flyboy 10-1
3-Ide Be Cool 15-1
4-Vicar's In Trouble 9-5

#259So yesterday, we hit a trifecta ($0.50 paid $495). I also put a $10WP bet on the 9 which paid very nicely (over $200). Should have made more if I didn't foret to put that superfecta in. Oh well, chit happens.Originally posted by mrginandtonicDRF Race of the Day- The Super Derby @ Louisana Downs going 1 1/8 on dirt. The expert @ DRF picked the 6-Victory Nor Defeat ML 8-1. Anyways, onto today's DRF Race of the Day, it is Race 6 The Presque Isle Mile on synthetic. The expert @ DRF picked the 3-Viva Lad ML 8-1. Looking at this field, there are a lot of horses here with similar form in terms of beyer speed figures, and style. One sticks out to me is the 9-Joha because he has been consistently running in Grade events, although he hasn't been winning, but he hasn't been bad either. I think this drop in company will serve him good. Not gonna go crazy on this one because I think this race is pretty wide open. My wager: $10WP on the 9-Joha, $1 Tri 9/2,3/2,3,6,7 and $5 Ex 9/2,3.

#265DRF Race of the Day is Race 11 Woodbine Mile on turf. The ML favorite is 5-Kaigun @ 5-2, and 9-Jack Milton @ 7-2. The expert @ DRF like the 8- Bobby's Kitten. I think that I will have to play against that, even though he is @ 15-1 ML which I have no problem with. But I am not sure if he is fast enough with this group. Plus this is his first time against olders and at a G1 event. I think it is too much for him. So lets take a look the others. Brian Lynch has three horses enter, one front runner, one tactical, and one closer. The 11-Grand Arch is obviously his better chance with back to back 100 beyer and 2nd off layoff. All stats are in his favor, the only draw back is the post. It doesn't look like a lot pace in this race, so I am not sure if he will hung wide into the first turn or will he be moved forwardly to gain position. So my sleeper of the race is the other Lynch's horse, the 6- Dorsett. On paper, he looks like a big long shot. Given his pedigree (El Prado and Machiavellian) and being trained by Lynch (love him for turf), and his closing kick, I think he deserves a long look. I will probably key him in tri and super with the favorites.

The 6-Dorsett looked pretty good turning for home just right outside of Grand Arch, but didn't have anything left in the stretch. Oh well, till next time, good luck to all.

#267DRF Race of the Day is the Penn Derby 1 1/8 on dirt. ML favorite is the 1-California Chrome @ 1-1. DRF experts like the 2-Candy Boy and 1-Calfornia Chrome, and also the 5-Noble Moon. My feel for this race is that the 1-California Chrome should win. Art Sherman doesn't have great numbers with layoffs, but Chrome to me is the best horse in the field. But is he fired up to win?? or a prep?? I really don't know. So with that being said, I will take the 3-Protonico. I really like the Protonico because he has been improving since turn over to Pletcher. He is out of Giant's Causeway (Storm Cat) and Alpha Spirit (AP Indy) and he has won his last race at Parx. All the connections points towards him. ML for Protonico is 8-1 so I will put a win wager on him as well. $20WP 3-Protonico, $10 Ex box 1-3, and $1 tri 1,3/1,3,4/1,3,4,7. Also, a long shot, $1 tri 3/2,5/2,5,7,8. GL everyone.

#271OK everyone, this is it. The biggest race of the year!! DRF Race of the Day- The Breeders Cup Classic 1 1/4 on dirt. Well, the obvious one are 6-Shared Belief, 7- Bayern, 11-Tonalist, and 13- California Chrome. Some like 2-Cigar Street, 9-Toast of New York and 10-Footbridge. I am gonna go for the bomb. My wager will be $25 WP on the 14- Majestic Harbor. I know it is a long shot, but anything can happen. I think if he runs back to his last race at SA Gold Cup, he has a shot. He is among three horses that has run 110+ on the beyer speed figure. And he did it at 1 1/4 and at SA. With the outside post, he should stay out of traffic. So who knows. Gonna box him in an exacta- $10 6/14. Good to all.

#272Wow, almost one year not posting any discussion for DRF race of the day. Since breeders' Cup is just around the corner, I thought I will resurrect this thread a little bit going towards the Breeders' Cup.
DRF Race of the Day is Race 9 @ Woodbine going 1 1/2 Mile on Turf, the Canadian International Grade 1. The morning line favorite is the 4- Second Step @ 3-1, then it is the 2-Cannock Chase @ 7-2. Looking at the form, I wonder how much pace will there be in this race. Seems like the inside horse from 1-5 all lack early speed. Is the 9-Interpol gonna try and steal it again going wire to wire?? I guess that's possible. The experts at DRF picked 9-Interpol and 2-Cannock Chase, the other pick 11-Habibi, and 9-Interpol and 2-Cannock. I personally don't like mares going against boys, so the 11 is out for the win spot. Looking at the form, I don't think the 9 can steal it again, in fact, my scenario is the 6, 8, and 9 will probably go to front with 1, 4, 10 close behind. I believe (and hope) that it is this group that will get the win. I like the 10-Kaigun the best since he is on the outside and will avoid traffic problems. I guess the only question is can he go the distance??? I am betting that he will go the distance and at 12-1 (will most likely go off higher), I am willing to take a chance on him. He is also one of the few in this group that actually can do 100+ beyer speed figure. My play for the Canadian International:
$20 WP on the 10-Kaigun
$0.20 Tri: 10/1,3,4,7/1,3,4,7,11
10/1,4,6,7,9/1,4,6,7,9,11
10/2,3,7,9/2,3,7,9

#273Breeders' Cup 2016
Friday 11/4 DRF Race of the Day is Race 9, The Distaff, 1 1/8 Mile for 3 yr and up Fillies and Mares.
What can we say about this race? First the obvious, three extremely talented fillies/mares meet for the first time. 1-Songbird (ML favorite @ 6-5), 5-Stellar Wind and 8-Beholder (both ML @ 5-2). Then, we have Pletcher's horse 3-Curalina, Stewart's horse 6-Forever Unbridled and Jones' horse 7-I'm a Chatterbox all at ML 12-1. Really?? Do they really think it's a three horse race?? Except for the 2-Land Over Sea, all have won at least one Grade 1 race before. Is it because the top three choices have run and won at Santa Anita and the others haven't? So many of these have a very similar running style which gun to the front. With that said, are we expecting a pace meltdown? Or is everyone afraid of pace duel and let the front go?? My thought is that there will be pace, will it be a melt down? Not sure. So I will go with the 6-Forever Unbridled who has tactical speed and should on the outside in the second group. She should be ready to pound when they turn for home. The ML is 12-1, I am willing to take a shot.
$25 WP 6- Forever Unbridled
$10 EX 6 with 1, 3, 5
$5 EX 1, 3, 5 with 6
$1 TRI 6 with 1, 3, 5 with 1, 3, 5, 8
GL all, as always, comments and suggestions are always welcome. Lets make some money together.Comment -
