it's sloppy there according to equibase just so you know.. I have a better feel for tracks like indiana and thistledown than I do for parx.. not sure why just one of those things

Hi JBEX,

Just a quick question once again from a newbie. When you list horses here do you usually like these horses to Win? I'm asking because I'm still having trouble deciding on when to bet a horse to Win or when you should bet to place or show or across the board. I got some good advice the other day that unless the odds at better than 4-1 should not bet W/P/S. Just trying to get an idea. Thanks.

hi maynard...I think win at 4-1 or 3-1 minimum not a bad starting point for a new player .. win and place for me and don't bet show..would vary bet amount also with lower amounts going on real high odds horses ex:10 on a 5-1 ..5 on a 20-1..there are other strategies involving triples and supers with longshots but win place is what I'd stick with for now

not interested in the race..probably him or chad brown just outside of him and both at low odds

Understood. Thanks. One more question, sorry.... If I stick with Win and Place do I only bet a horse straight to win only or Place only or if the odds are better than 3-1 4-1 do I do a W/P ticket. I'm sorry this may sound dumb, just having a hard time gather when to do a W/P or a win or place only. Didn't know if there may be a rule of thumb to guide me.

What's a "Washout"? does that have to do with the track conditions. I have noticed already that a couple of horses I liked at Belmont have scratched. Is that what you mean? Sorry if this is a silly question.
