Same here I had planned to max bet on Pinny (around $1000 to win $500) but I'm slightly worried now May only bet $500.

Kazakhstan underrated and USA overrated.

Italy is just a bad team, one of the worst in the tournament. I rank them 2nd to France. Sweden is probably the best team in the tournament and is getting players to replenish their injuries by tomorrow. Even with a letdown after a big game today, I'd be shocked if Sweden doesn't win by 3+ against Italy

Yup Italy and France are the worst by far. I always forget Kazakhstan is right next to Russia They don't have any NHLers but they have some decent players. The reason I grouped them with Italy and France as bottom dwellers was because France pounded them 6-3 and Canada/US both pounded France 7-2. With basic logic the US should have rolled them this morning. I agree US is looking pretty overrated. They haven't impressed me in a game since the Canada meeting.

Kazaks are definitely a bottom dweller also, I rank them right after France and Italy, but I think they are an underrated third worst. USA I don't think is a top 5 or even 7 team. That blueline is abysmal, when Jack Johnson is your best strictly defensive option, you cannot compete on a regular basis. Petry-Butler is nightmarishly bad to the point of simply being benched in the last half of the 3rd. I'm gonna be fading USA a lot the rest of the way since they are still going to be priced as an elite team in this tourny.

Early Saturday morning action... FRA vs SUI over 5.5 France is bad they are highly penalized and terrible on the penalty kill. The Swiss have no problem scoring either. I was originally going to put a unit on the overs in the BEL/SVK and a unit on the overs in the NOR/LAT game. Then once I looked at this FRA/SUI game I decided I'm putting 3 units on the overs in that! Hopefully I wake up a couple hundred dollars happier...

The SWE / RUS game was a wild one as well. It started getting very nasty, which is really out of place for the IIHF

I'm going to change my list from yesterday's prediction (but still maintain we watched the overall winner play yesterday) and say that the tournament winner will be either:

RUS: My Odds-on fav after they destroyed SWE yesterday... Sochi is a great motivator and now that Malkin is out from under Crosbie's shadow, he looks determined to show that he's got the bigger heart. 3G + 2A yesterday and currently the overall scoring leader with 6G + 6A in 5 games (WOW)

CAN: Close second after yesterday's incredible display of heart against FIN. The '72 series is 40 years past, but anytime RUS & CAN do battle for the "Big Enchilada" on the world's stage, we're in for a treat!

SWE: Even after the spanking RUS delivered yesterday, I'm not counting them out. They simply have too much talent & pride to allow their team to be remembered for that performance.

FIN: Initially, I gave this spot to the USA. Their utterly dismal performance and complete impotence against an inferior opponent (plus they cost me $100 ) leave me no choice but to dismiss them as contenders for the cup. FIN, even with the loss, demonstrated that they should not be counted out. The score does not tell the full story as CAN pocketed an EN goal at the finish. Watch these lads.
