#387What?Originally posted by keyboardingThe team is much, much worse with Crosby.
You were doing alright before you got to that part.
Letang/Orpik/Martin/Michalek...i'll put those 4 up against any other NHL team. May not be the best defense in the league, but it is def. up there.
Staal is not a 2nd line center, he will be our 3rd line center when the team is healthy.
As for the penguins not getting better in the offseason, well, really, all they need is to get healthy. This is a team that got 106 points without Sid and Geno, relying entirely on defense. Add in those two, and yes, the Pens have to be one of the bigger favorites. How many teams can lose 200ish points out of their best two players and still be among the top teams in the league? All those minor signings like sullivan or losing someone like Talbot really doesnt matter. If Sid and Geno are healthy, thats all they need to improve upon last season.Comment -

#388First off: Dan Bylsma earns the best coach statement because he won it last year! The Pens went on an amazing run without the best player in the league. So not that ridiculous. Pretty factual.
Second: LOL the team is horrid with Crosby, which is why we won a cup with him and had b2b appearances there.
Third: The defense isn't the best but they get things done. I think we can thank our defense as well as Fleury for 7th best Goals Against last year.
Lastly: Washington was the only team that has been missing goaltending. Can't say San Jose has missed goaltending since they had a former Stanley Cup champ as their goalie last year and the Canucks have got a good goalie in Luongo. He's proved he can handle pressure when he helped lead Canada to a gold with Crosby. But according to you, Fleury isn't very good yet he's won the Cup. Kind of contradicting.Comment -

#389AND furthermore, Dan Bylsma's record as the Penguins head coach is 114-56-19 in 2.5 seasons, with a Stanley Cup and a Jack Adams Award. 3 playoff appearances as well.Originally posted by keyboardingByslma best coach in the league, eh? You do realize as a self proclaimed "huge pens fan" it's ridiculous for you to make comments like that.Comment -

#390That has so much less to do with his skills as a coach and so much more to do with the players on his roster.Originally posted by MJG24AND furthermore, Dan Bylsma's record as the Penguins head coach is 114-56-19 in 2.5 seasons, with a Stanley Cup and a Jack Adams Award. 3 playoff appearances as well.Comment -

Are you fukking serious? That is fukking embarrassing for a top 4.
When the team is healthy? I didn't realize we based the strength of a roster on best case scenarios instead of realistic ones. Let me know when you come back to reality, pal.Originally posted by Cicima6709Staal is not a 2nd line center, he will be our 3rd line center when the team is healthy.
Other teams got better, PIT didn't improve enough. You'll see. And again, injuries are a part of the game, stop pretending like this is a videogame with injuries turned off. Crosby and even Malkin should be considered injury prone at this point. Not a good sign over a long season.Originally posted by Cicima6709If Sid and Geno are healthy, thats all they need to improve upon last season.
That was an obvious typo. I meant without, of course.Originally posted by MJG24LOL the team is horrid with Crosby, which is why we won a cup with him and had b2b appearances there.
You guys are too busy living in the past. The team is worse defensively, anyone with half a brain who doesn't live in Pittsburgh can tell.Originally posted by Cicima6709Third: The defense isn't the best but they get things done. I think we can thank our defense as well as Fleury for 7th best Goals Against last year.
Luongo is not a good playoff goalie. Nabokov is not a good playoff goalie. Neuvirth/Varlamaov were not good playoff goalies. Niemi went up against the best offense in the NHL. You're insane if you're putting any of them in the same class as Thomas.Originally posted by Cicima6709Washington was the only team that has been missing goaltending. And please don't put Team Canada wins in the same category as Stanley Cup wins.Comment -

#410Just a heads up from an AVS fan. There is good value on them to start the year. They are healthy, have good goaltending, and a much better physical defense. The value will continue to disappear as the year goes on...
Good bounce back day today.
