seriously fellas....I agree, the Canucks looked awesome this year! but, they have looked pretty darn good the last 3 years, and then choke in the playoffs. So, please....don't get your hopes up until they get something done in the post-season! ever. They've looked good the last few years yes but they look great this year. They've always had a weakness or lack of depth at one position the last 5 years but they are extremely solid everywhere this year.
Having a fresh Luongo has done wonders for his game and he will be ready to go come playoffs and if he slips up Schneider is ready to take over
and keep him motivated and on top of his game.
I know they have to prove something in the playoffs this year and trust me they will I have no doubts.Comment -

Second, I agree with the Malholtra thing, that is tough for them (anyone can see that, hes been awesome for them), but I do agree with DG, they have alot of depth, and alot of guys I think they can turn to in the AHL down the stretch.
DG, I agree with everything you've said about van, but they still need to prove it to me...and I almost think if they get in a game 6 against the hawks, they start schneider :P but ya...they have two number 1's in net right now...

You'll learn more about hockey in the playoffs when you see the impact Malholtra had. In the traditional sense of the Selke requirements, he would have been the hands down winner.....in the days before they started giving it to stars.
He's a premiere shutdown guy, wins key faceoffs, is a great PK, AND can chip in goals.
Sorry but "depth" doesn't replace a guy like that. But Nucks fans should be used to choke jobs in the playoffs by now...it won't be anything new for them.Comment -
yea no doubt, its a psychological thing with CHI more than anything at this point. I really do think they beat CHI if they match up in the first round though, (or second), I think the team for them to beat is Detroit.... I remember the heart attacks lunogo gave all of us Canadians in the Olympics last year, aganist the Slovaks , then the final aganist the states letting that goal in with a few seconds to go. I personally think he's over rated, he won a gold medal , but he had the best players in the world playing infront of him...

How is Luongo overrated when he has the 3rd best save % in the league? Something he did year in and year out on a HORRIBLE Florida team.
I would agree he needs to prove himself in the playoffs or his career will be meaningless, but to say he's overrated is premature at this point.

Yes they do have a strong unit and great lineup, but they paid Malholtra a LOT because of the impact a 3rd line center has in the playoffs. We'll see how they adjust when they are facing teams with great PP's and elite scoring lines...
Yes I'll be the first to admit he hasn't been great in the playoffs yet...but Schneider has never proved anything when he's had expectations on him. The list of goalies that have played well with no pressure is very LONG. I just think nucks fans too easily forget what life was like before he came along..........a goalie graveyard. I agree bob. Special teams are much more important come the playoffs, and considering its very likely the nucks face the wings at some point, an elite PP team, that could be trouble.. I never denied the importance of Malhotra, I just reaffirmed my belief in their overall depth as a squad.
