Why Avs Pan Under? Both are sucking and can't score?

I wouldn't say the Avs can't score. They are 2nd in the NHL in goals/game and they put up 5 goals last time out and 7 goals 4 games ago. Sandwiched in between those games was a 2 goal performance vs Atlanta and 1 goal vs Carolina. Nothing wrong with 2 vs Atlanta right now as Atlanta has only allowed more than 2 goals 1 time in their last 10 games. That 1 time came vs a red hot Pittsburgh team (winners of 10 straight) and Pitt settled for just 3 that game. The game vs Carolina was an expected spot (I thought) for a low scoring game and if you look I was on the 1P Under in that one. They still managed 35 shots on goal in that one. So I think the Avs offense is fine.
Florida plays more of an Over style at home than they do away. Look at these home games in which they've had trouble scoring. 1 goal vs Boston (#1 defense), 2 goals vs Pitt (#3 defense), 1 goal vs Dallas (#8 defense), 0 goals vs Rangers (#11 defense). Colorado has the #27 defense. Look what they've done at home vs defenses in the same tier as the Avs. 4 goals vs Toronto (#20 defense), 7 goals vs Carolina (#26 defense), 4 goals vs Islanders (#26 defense), 6 goals vs Lightning (#29 defense).
Another thing that should help them is the Avs PK unit. Avs have the 5th worst PK in the NHL and the Panthers have been atrocious on the PP this year. Only once this year has Florida scored a PP goal and not ended that game with at least 3 goals. So hopefully they can get one by this bad PK unit and get the offense going.
Their one meeting in Florida last year played to a 6-5 final.
It's just one of many many games I will play this year. Not one of my strongest so if you really like the Under then I say go for it.

Tomas is in Net , that 6-5 was without him. Last Home game was 3-0 Panthers. Even though Avs have bad Def. Anderson is in Net a former Panther

Check the thread title again and you will hopefully see why he doesn't like Florida straight up.

I don't play sides and don't necessarily like Florida to win if I did play sides. All I'm saying is everything put together I think the Over is worth a shot for 1 unit at Even money.

Small one on the Sharks Flyers for me. Niemi has not been the goalie that the Sharks thought they were getting. Most smart Hockey fans knew the guy wasn't worth what he wanted, of course the Chicago Meatballs whine about not having him still....

I'm a Hawks fan and I didn't have much of a problem saying goodbye to him. As you said, he wasn't worth it.
Sharks 20-6 to the 1P Over (10-3 home and away) so I'll be playing that most days. Add in the Flyers are 13-3 to the 1P Over at home and not much thought went into this one for me.

im seeing nitty in net for the sharks. facing the old team in their barn....carrying the weight of knowing the sharks own the flyers and said flyers wanting to break that streak tonight should make for some interesting pregame thoughts. ill bite on the over
not to mention the 4+ gaa vs the flyers and 4+ gaa in his last 2 games....

so i've heard it said often before that each game is like a coin flip...past results do not indicate future results...just curious on your thoughts on that?
when someone says oh the sharks are 20-6 on the 1st period over how does that relate to a game tonight when so many other factors are involved? maybe the opponent scored 1 or both goals to make that hit??
am i just putting too much thought into it??
i mean, if a team is hitting 65% of the overs for a whole game does that really mean anything for the game tomorrow night??

Past results don't guarantee future results but they give you a starting point. How can you cap a game if you have no past results to look at? Whether they be over/under trends, offensive stats, defensive stats, goalie stats, player stats, or any other stat or trend. You need to have past results to look at to try to predict future results. Otherwise it's nothing but flipping a coin.
20-6 relates to today's game because with a stat like that clearly they are fast starters whether it be great offense or whether they allow offenses to start fast against them. They are 2nd in the NHL in 1st period goals (2 behind the Blackhawks who have played 3 more games than them). So basically they are the best scoring 1st period team in the NHL when you take into consideration game differential. They then slow the game down, especially if they have a lead. I've seen them do this over and over. That's why they are 20-6 to the 1P Over and just 16-10 to the Game Over. Now that doesn't mean you play them every single game but when they get matched up with a team like the Flyers who are 3rd in the NHL in 1st period goals and 13-3 to the 1P Over at home then that's where your attention gets drawn to. So they start fast as well but don't always finish that way. That's why they are 13-3 to the 1P Over at home and just 9-7 to the game Over. So I'm getting two of the fastest starting teams in the NHL (when the Flyers are home) at the same line and same price as most other games. I've been banking on these 1P plays from both these teams all year. Now chances are they will revert to slower starters at some point or the oddsmakers will be forced to make an adjustment and I'll lose a few before I realize it's time to jump ship, but in the meantime I'm racking up win after win courtesy of these 2 teams.

Great run, Bob. The most exciting wagers for me are hockey totals. I know it is all about building the bankroll, but nothing in this endeavor of ours gets me more worked up than watching an NHL game that I have a total play on. Too bad I suck with picks!
Keep up the great work!
