Your not worry about:

Lehtonen is undefeated at 4-0 with a 2.39 GAA and .932 SV% so far.
also erik will be starting for Tampa
Halak might be starting too, he will soon get his handle back

That's a fine way to cap and probably the better way but I don't worry about that stuff. For 1st period plays I look for streaks like in the plays above. Its amazing how long some of these 1st period streaks have gone on in the past. I know the flyers had a 21-2 run to the under on the road starting at the end of the '08-'09 season. The overs were coming in at a good rate in their home games. It started to even out at the end of the year so I jumped ship but not before banking on it. They're off to similar start this year, the over is 3-0 in their home games and 0-2 in their road games. I'll probably jump on that again. Two years ago the Caps went on something like a 15-1 run to the over. Coyotes were under machines the majority of last year and the under is already off to a 4-0 start in their games this year. I'll be on that train too. So that's the way I approach these.

Bruins/Caps 1st Period Under 1.5 +100 - The Bruins are 3-0 to the under in the 1st period this year and a combined one goal was scored between both teams in those 3 1st periods. The Caps are riding a 3 game 1st period under streak as well.

Predators Team Total Over 2.5 -125 - Flames have allowed 3 or more goals in 3 of 4 games this year and 4 of 5 dating back to last year. The Preds have scored 3 or more goals in 3 of 4 games this year and 5 of 6 dating back to last year.

Ducks/Jackets 1P Under 1.5 -105 - Gut feeling. Nothing more, nothing less. I'll have a lot of gut plays throughout the year and I trust my gut more than any stats or trends.

Sabres/Thrashers 1P Over 1.5 -110 - Thrashers sitting at 4-1 to the over in the 1st this year including 1-0 at home. The Sabres come in at 3-3. Buffalo has been putting a lot of shots on goal at 32.5 per game (8th best in the NHL) while the Thrashers have been giving up a ton of shots at 36.4 per game (4th worst in the NHL).

Nucks/Hawks 1P Over 1.5 -115 - Hawks at 6-1 to the over in the 1st, 3-1 at home. Canucks 3-3, 2-1 on the road. Between regular season and consecutive playoff meetings, these two teams have seen a lot of each other lately and there haven't been many low scoring games of late in this matchup. The 1P Over is 7-1 in the last 8 between the two.

Canes/Kings 1P Under 1.5 -115 - Kings a perfect 4-0 to the under this year. Probably going to ride that until it loses. Also, Canes on a back to back and their one back to back this year saw a 1-1 score heading into a shootout after a 4-3 game the night before to the same team.

Hawks Team Total Over 3 -105 - Luongo back between the pipes tonight after getting pulled after 2 periods last night due to him allowing 6 goals. In his last 3 games (2 2/3 worth of ice time) he's allowed 14 goals. Hawks have scored at least 3 goals in 3 straight games and in 5 out of 7 this year. Luongo has been owned by the Hawks of late. In his last 7 games vs them (lasting 6 1/3 worth of ice time) he has given up 26 goals and the Hawks scored at least 4 goals in 5 of those games.

Flames Team Total Under 2.5 -120 - Flames have scored 2 or less in all 3 of their road games including being shutout in regulation in 2 of those. They come in at dead last in the NHL in scoring per game and they're on a back to back. Jackets have allowed 2 or less in 3 of their last 4 games.

Sabres Team Total Over 2.5 -145 - Senators have allowed 3 or more goals in all 4 of their road games and 4 or more in 3 of those 4. Sabres have scored 3 or more in 4 of their last 6. Sabres are top 5 in the league in shots per games while the Sens are bottom third in the league in shots allowed per game.

Sabres/Flyers 1P Over 1.5 -110 - Continuing Flyers Overs at home, Unders on the road. 5-0 to the 1P Over at home, 3-0 to the 1P Under on the road. Sabres have hit 3 out of their last 4 1P Overs as well.

Panthers/Leafs Under 5.5 -120 - All 3 of the Panthers road games have stayed under and 3 out of 4 of the Leafs home games have stayed under. Since last year 3 of the 4 meetings between these two stayed under including 3 straight overall and both games that were played in Toronto.

Yotes/Sens 1P Under 1.5 -120 - Whether it stays under or not, this is an auto play for me. Yotes now 6-1 to the 1P Under on the year including 3-0 on the road. Sens 3-0 to the 1P Under at home

Avs/Nucks 1P Over 1.5 -115 - Sort of a gut play but also this matchup is starting to turn into a scoring fest. In their last 4 meetings dating back to last year there have been 34 goals scored with the Over going 4-0. The 1P Over also went 4-0 with at least 3 goals scored in the 1st in 3 of those 4.

Flames Team Total Over 3 -105 - The Oilers are just getting worked in net right now. They have allowed 4 or more goals in each of their last 4 games including 5 goals on 46 shots vs this same Flames team 3 games ago. The Flames have also scored 4 or more in 2 straight games and 3 or more in 3 of their 4 home games. Going back to last year the Flames won all 4 of their home games vs the Oilers and scored 18 goals doing so.

Caps/Canes 1P Over 1.5 -130 - Gut play

Hurricanes Team Total Over 2.5 -140 - Canes have scored at least 3 goals in 3 straight games, Caps have allowed at least 3 goals in 3 straight games, and the Canes have scored at least 3 goals in 5 consecutive meetings with the Caps and 9 out of their last 10. That one game out of the 10 they didn't get to 3 they still got 2 on the board. Canes are well rested with 3 days off and after 7 games they finally get their 1st true home game of the year as their only other one was played in Finland.

Kings/Hawks Under 5.5 -110 - Hawks 5-1 to the Under at home, Kings 3-2 to the Under on the Road. This series has turned into a defensive matchup with all 4 games going Under last year and 5 in a row overall.

Devils/Sharks 1P Over 1.5 +105 - Another auto play. Sharks now 7-0 to the 1P Over.

Devils Team Total Under 2.5 -125 - The Devils have scored 2 or less goals in 6 of their 7 games this season. Their lone game going over that total they settled for 3. They've just been embarrassing offensively and are dead last in goals per game at 1.67.
