Play #15: [Game 6] Sharks Total Shots on Goal OVER 34.5 [-115] Ever since Game 1 put the Sharks on notice that this was going to be a series with Colorado, San Jose has been peppering goalie Craig Anderson with shots in Games 2-5. Their low output in that stretch was Game 5's 37 shots on goal. In a potential close out game tonight, I do not expect the Sharks will change their tactics. They will continue to be physical, control the puck and put pucks on the Colorado goal at every chance.

Play #16: [Game 6] Nashville Total Shots on Goal OVER 27.5 [-145]
High chalk here, but the shot total itself is relatively low considering that the Predators have really amped up their shot total at home in this series. In the three games in Chicago, Nashville struggled with just 70 shots on goal. However, at home, they have tallied 68 in just two games. For the season, they have averaged 32 shots on goal on home ice. Chicago is giving up about 27 per contest on the road. In four home games vs. Chicago this season, the Predators have only missed above this total once. With the series on the line tonight, Nashville has to throw everything + the kitchen sink at Chicago. It would make sense to do so after netting four goals in Chicago in the last game on just 21 shots. Pepper Niemi and hope he breaks. It would help greatly if their poor power play would begin to generate some shots as well. 0 for 21 is pathetic to say the least.

Play #17: [Game 7] Red Wings-Coyotes OVER 5 [-122] The trend between these two teams with the total set at 5 this season has either been to PUSH or go OVER. There have been 10 games between the two with four finishing over five goals, five pushing with five goals exactly and just one falling short of five goals. In the six games of this series to this point, it's been an OVER and two PUSHES in Phoenix and two OVERs and an UNDER in Detroit. At the site of Game 7 tonight in Phoenix, all five meetings this season have found at least five goals. Dating back through 2008-2009, of the last 14 meetings between these two it now stands at 7 OVERs, 6 PUSHES and 1 UNDER on the number of five goals. I don't see the Game 7 setting having any bearing on whether this would be lower scoring or not. Phoenix has nothing to lose here even being the higher seed, so I expect they will let it all hang out and Detroit of course has the Championship pedigree behind many of its stars that could lead to goals. Also factor in the rookie goaltender for Detroit who has either been stellar or shotty and I'll take my chances on the total getting no worse than a PUSH. But let's get that lick from Lady Lick, here's your sacrifice - enjoy.

Play #18: [Game 7] Capitals Total Shots On Goal OVER 35.5 [-125] This is a massive amount of shots, but the Capitals are desperate to not choke in this series and this number has held up all series long. The Caps are averaging over 40 shots per game and put up that whopping 54 shots on goal in Game 6. I expect nothing less than balls to the wall shooting from Ovechkin and his mates tonight. They cannot afford to not come out without fire in their guts and pucks put on Halak. The more they throw at Montreal, the better likelihood that they can find a crack in the armor and get some goals. Their shot totals for the series go as follows: 47, 37, 36, 38, 38 & 54. In each game, the Caps have beaten this total in regulation. On home ice this season, they averaged 35 shots per game, while Montreal gave up around 36 per game. The Caps have been anemic on the power play this series, but they are getting plenty of opportunities with at least five PPs in the last four games of this series. That only helps add to the shot total. We need shots, so pucker up Lady Luck and give us another lovely lick of victory. Your sacrifice:

Play #19: Red Wings SERIES Over Sharks [+105] Detroit should have plenty of confidence heading into this series with rookie goalie Jimmy Howard now tested and true through a playoff series. He was a little iffy at times, but came up big when they needed him to be. They took the season series from San Jose, 3-1 and perhaps the most interesting thing is that the Wings are one of the few teams who seem to be able to win routinely in San Jose. They are 6-2 in the last 8 meetings in California. This series figures to provide a more stern test for San Jose who certainly outclassed Colorado although they did not show it for the first 3 games. In Detroit, they face a team that can match their offensive firepower and have a deep defensive corps that can keep up with San Jose. Detroit seemed to find the physicality needed to provide the intensity they needed to counter the energy Phoenix brought to the previous series and I'd expect that is something they need to replicate against the Sharks. Throw in that Evgeni Nabokov does not like Detroit [8-17 in 29 career starts vs. DET] and I think the Wings have a realistic shot at knocking off the West's top seed. Nabokov has been on the winning side against Detroit in just 3 of his last 8 starts vs. the Wings, including 1-3 against them in 2009-2010. Should be a dandy series. Lady Luck, keep on lickin' me. Sacrifice comin' up.

Play #20: [Game 1] Canadiens Total Shots on Goal UNDER 28.5 [-115] Montreal struggled to find shots all series against a leakier Washington defense as the Habs failed to put up more than 28 shots in 5 of the 7 games against the Caps. If you take out overtime from Game 1, they failed to hit better than 28 in 6 of 7. During the regular season against Pittsburgh, the Canadiens only beat this number once - getting 32 shots on goal in their last meeting in February. Otherwise, they averaged just over 20 shots in the other 3 meetings. The Pens got a little loose against the Senators in the final three games of that series, allowing 30+ shots in each game - however, during the early stages of the series, they shut Ottawa down with 26 shots or under in Games 1-3. In the last four trips to The Igloo, Montreal has failed to squeeze off more than 27 shots on goal. Lady Luck has been licking us with regularity and it'd be nice to get a Sweet Ass win to start the semifinal round, so here's your sacrifice, a sweet ass:

Play #21: [Game 2] Flyers Total Shots On Goal OVER 29.5 [-125] This has been a good number for the Flyers when battling the Bruins this season as they have put at least 30 shots on goal in 4 of the 5 meetings this season, including Game 1. The Bruins have had issues allowing shots down the stretch too. In 6 of their 7 playoff games, they have allowed at least 30 shots on goal and in 9 of their last 10 overall. Flyers have gotten at least five power play opportunities now in five straight in the post-season. That should help add to the total and make this a good shot to get home tonight. Lady Luck whispered to me that she appreciates hot Flyers chicks ... and in absence of a Flyers ice girl or dancer, found a sweet Flyer to sacrifice for the lick of Lady Luck tonight.

Play #22: [Game 3] Sharks-Red Wings OVER 5.5 [-101] By hook or crook, looking for more goals tonight. Much ado about the tremendous number of power play opportunities afforded to the Sharks in Games 1 & 2 at home [16 total]. Power play goals accounted for half the Sharks eight goals in the first two games. Meanwhile, the Red Wings have quietly continued their offensive assault with six goals in Games 1 & 2. I tend to think that some of the whistles will go Detroit's way and get them a few more power plays. Either way, combine a desperate Detroit team that should pepper Nabokov with shots tonight and a Sharks team with confidence and I think goals are the order again tonight. I think this one calls for the Hockey MILF.

Throw in that he has a goal and an assist in each of the first two games. Play #24: [Game 4] Detroit Red Wings Total Shots on Goal OVER 33.5 [-115] It's do or die tonight for Detroit as they look to salvage at least not being swept by the Sharks. As such, I am expecting them to pepper Evgeni Nabokov tonight with plenty of shots at the net. Saw it in Game 7 against Phoenix when they needed to take it up a notch, they pumped out 50+ shots. They've done that once earlier this season at home against San Jose as well. 34 may be a large number considering Detroit has not met that total in this series save for OT in Game 3 when they wound up with 35 shots on goal - but I think given the desperation they will play with tonight, there should be plenty of shots on goal. The Wings know no lead is safe after Game 3, so look for them to continue pushing to the end.

Play #25: [Game 4] Bruins-Flyers OVER 5 [-128] Do or die night for another team tonight. Most people seem to expect Philadelphia to pull off a Detroit from last night and come out and wallop or at least win against Boston. Problem for me is that the Flyers aren't in the same category as the Red Wings. I do however like taking a shot at going OVER 5 goals tonight. Each of the first three games in this series have met a 5 goal total or better. Boston's offense has done its part with 3 goals or more in each of the first three games. The Bs have now scored at least three goals in 6 of their 9 playoff games in 2010. The Flyers have to find some way to solve Tuukka Rask. The return of Simon Gagne tonight may help with that. All three of the Flyers postseason games at home this year [3] have gone totals of at least 5. With Philadelphia likely to press as hard as they have all series, I expect goals to come tonight whether it is the Flyers penetrating the Boston goal or leaving themselves prone to counter attacks that result in Boston scores. Daddy don't care how it gets done, just like me again Lady Luck. Sacrifice!

Play #26: [Game 4] Canucks-Blackhawks OVER 5.5 [-120] All three games of this series have seen at least six goals scored and the last five meetings between these two teams have all done the same. The Canucks have now seen 7 straight in the playoffs reach at least six goals, while the Blackhawks have seen the trick in five straight. There have been plenty of power play opportunities in this series with 28 so far in Games 1-3. Neither team though is exactly cranking it yet on the man advantage with Vancouver 2 for 14 & Chicago 3 for 14. Probably not surprising that Vancouver has struggled with Chicago as one of the top PK units, but the Canucks were a so-so PK unit and Chicago can likely do more. Canucks are making some changes to their PP units possibly and maybe even the Sedin line. All of which can only help add more offense to an offensive series. Lick it to me Lady Luck. Sacrifice!

Play #27: [Game 5] Red Wings-Sharks OVER 5.5 [-120] At this point in this series, there seems to be little logic into playing the under. Detroit has scored at least three goals in every game of the series and San Jose had tallied 4 each in the first three before the Red Wings domination in Game 4 where they only netted one. Still, since Game 1 when they struggled against Colorado - the Sharks have been scoring plenty at home with 19 goals in their last four home playoff games. The bad blood in this series seemed to boil over with a ton of penalties [64 penalty minutes] in the 3rd period. There have been double digit power play opportunities in 3 of the 4 games with 8 in the other. Expecting a lot of scoring chances again here as the Sharks should be pressing hard to put Detroit away today to avoid any choke talk if the series heads back to Detroit for a Game 6. Detroit conversely has nothing to lose in this one if they come out and play with the passion and fire they had in Game 4. Go balls deep or go home. That's what Lady Luck likes. Sacrifice!

Play #28: [Game 5] Canucks Total Shots on Goal OVER 27.5 [-130] It's all over but the crying it appears for Vancouver as they just cannot stop Chicago's offense. That means in a potential elimination game, the Canucks have to throw caution to the wind and pound the puck on the net. They have been pretty good at beating this number against the Blackhawks this season with 6 of the 8 meetings this season seeing Vancouver with at least 28 shots on goal. In this playoff series, Vancouver has only missed this total once at 26 shots in Game 3. Overall, the Canucks have beaten this number in 7 of their 10 postseason games. They have gotten at least four power play opportunities in each game this series and finally produced some results in Game 4 at 2 of 4 on the PP. Vancouver averaged almost 32 shots on goal per road game, but Chicago was very stingy at home - allowing just 23 shots. Still, Vancouver is in desperation mode and has done well to generate shots against the Blackhawks - so I'm looking for plenty of shots.

Play #29: [Game 6] Penguins-Canadiens OVER 5 [-130] This one either makes me more smooth than Negrodamus or an all-day sucker. This is an elimination game as the Habs fight to push this series to a decisive Game 7 in Pittsburgh. Being such, one has to try and figure out the mind sets of each team. For Pittsburgh, I believe this team wants to go in for the kill and finish this in Montreal. No risks in a Game 7. They have gotten healthier as the series has gone on, getting both Jordan Staal and Bill Guerin back in the lineup. One thing the Pens have excelled at in this series is working on the power play. They have a power play goal in 4 of the 5 games to this point. The problem is that Montreal has been pretty disciplined, not allowing more than four PPs in any one game this series. However, with all Montreal's blue line woes due to injury, perhaps in a desperation mode in Game 6 there will be some looser defense and more penalties. That would certainly help. The Pens have been able to crack Halak for at least 2 goals in 4 of 5, but have not exploded since Game 1. Could it come tonight? Perhaps. Under Dan Bylsma, Pittsburgh has been lethal in close out games on the road. They've scored 21 goals in five close out games on the road in the past year, including Ottawa this season. As for Montreal, for all the heroics of Halak in goal and the blocked shot parade by their defensive unit .... the Habs have to score goals to win this game. They simply cannot sit back and think that one or two goals is going to beat this Pittsburgh squad. Montreal had some solid scoring opportunities in Game 5, but did not finish. I expect at home in an all or nothing setting, they will push has hard as they have all series to get to Fleury. I like this set-up much better than the game being in Pittsburgh where I do believe the low scoring might be more likely to occur with more pressure on the Penguins not to choke. Tonight, they still have a home game in their back pocket, but let's go balls to the wall to get it done and open the floodgates. Lady Luck needs to do some work tonight, so sacrifice it & lick.

Play #30: [Game 6] Canucks Total Shots on Goal OVER 27.5 [-110] Well this one missed out in Game 5, perhaps because of the early goals for Vancouver, perhaps not. In any case, I'm sticking with it tonight. Vancouver has beaten this number in all four home meetings against Chicago in the regular season/postseason in 2009-2010. Chicago also allows more shots on the road as they have given up at least 28 shots on goal in all five of their road playoff games. Lady Luck, lick a Canuck! Let's RACK up another one.

Play #31: [Game 6] Bruins-Flyers OVER 5 [-130] Oh what a difference a few days make as the Flyers now seemingly have confidence and life down 3-2 after trailing this series 3-0 and looking like they were dead and done. Several reasons to like the OVER tonight. #1 for me, new goalie. Michael Leighton got to come in and get his gear wet in relief of the injured Brian Boucher in Game 5 and that will help him some. However, this is also a goalie who has ZERO playoff starts in his career now being cast into a situation where you win or your season is done. Leighton got roughed up by the Bruins when he faced them in March, yielding 4 goals on 25 shots in a 5-1 Boston win in Philly. He also had a good road start against them back in January when the Bs prevailed 2-1 in OT. #2, all the games between these two teams in Philadelphia during the regular season and postseason have hit at least 5 goals and 3 of those 4 cleared 5 goals easily. The Flyers should again be playing the desperate hockey that has yielded them two straight wins and found them with 9 goals. Special teams really haven't mattered here as both teams have just three power play goals each in this series among the 32 goals that have been scored thus far. It would be helpful though if either PP unit could help out and get hot tonight. I think with Philly playing for their playoff lives again coupled with the new goalie for Boston to test, this one should at the least gain a PUSH and if Lady Luck will give us a nice little lick, perhaps get past the total. Sacrifice!
