I'd consider Van ML -119. Van is 15-4-10 +18 GFA at home. They have been shut out a league low of 5 times in the 1st at home. 4-1-5 last 10 at home. Buffalo is 7-11-6 -5 GFA on the road. 2-3-1 on the current road trip and had been shutout in 4 of the 6. Sabres have 16 GF in 24 road games but 5 of those came against FLA Oct 21st, so if take out that game they are only above Phoenix in 1st period away goals. Lastly teams on road trips of 6+ games so are a combined 1-9-5 in the games 6+ in the 1st period. But Buffalo has that sole W against SJ a few nights ago. I think Buffalo is already looking forward to getting home. Also this is the last home game for the Canucks before an 8 game road trip. I think -119 for the Canucks is a terrific value. there is no way Canucks lose this period 48% of the time.
The +171 -0.5PL is very tempting as well. That's a 37% odds of winning the first. All home teams combined are winning the 1st 36% of the time. Canucks are the #1 1st period team in the NHL. Buffalo #24 road team.
Loungo is starting tonight so it's not low line due to a back-up in net. I see this as one of the lines that pay no attention to 1st period stats and just based off of the lines for the entire game.

I believe what blargh? was trying to say is that the sabres won the 1st period over the sharks the other night. I dont know, i could be wrong.

Can't pass up the Pens at almost even money. They've won 6 straight vs the Rangers and all three meetings this year. The return of Fleury should spark the team as well I believe. Rangers have been Jekyl and Hyde all year so let's hope the bad Rangers show up tonight.

Yeah I will probably have more. Just wanted to get this one in time. I may have a play in every game tonight actually

Crosby and Malkin will hopefully carry the Pens tonight.

I'm staying away from the Flames until they break their slump. I wouldn't touch them at -165 odds at home until they show me they can win again.

My mistake on the end of the homestand. Canucks do have one more game at home before the road trip. I jumped the gun on that but it was not vital to the belief there was value in the line. My mistake.

If you had read the line before about the Sabres W at SJ or even the rest of the post, everything mentioned is in regards to 1st period stats only.

I am feeding myelf. I couldn't find the info on the web so I did it myself. If you can find anywhere else on the web with that same info on 1st periods let me know so I can stop doing the work myself.

There is a lot 1st period bets in this thread so I thought I'd share what I have to offer.

Thanks for sharing. Great insight to this game. I have mostly focused on 1st period totals but you are on to something with 1st period sides.
