    LA Kings - NY Islanders

Kings have concluded a long and painful roadtrip. Kopitar and Gaborik are finally back to complete the 1st line but they cannot get rid of the injuries, now they will have to play without Williams. Still they are finally back home and ready to bounce back on the winning track as they are coming into the match from a 3-1 victory over Stars. Islanders haven't won in LA since 2003. Yesterday they played a long match in Ahaheim where Ducks were without Perry and Getzlaf. What at first would seem an easy victory after dominating the first period leaving home team at only 5 shots on goal and taking a 2-0 lead turned out to a disaster when Anaheim managed to tie the match and was being a more dangerous opponent through out the second part of the match. Luckily Islanders found a winner in OT to secure both points. Islanders are a team which can score goals but they also allow them way too many. Lately the scoring part has also come to some struggles as they only scored 4 goals in last 3 matches. Islanders hardly scored 3 on LaBarbera last night, tonight they are more tired and I find it hard to believe they will be able to score 3 on Jonathan Quick who is in great form and shape, posting 94.2 SV% with 2.03 GAA.

Pick: NY Islanders Team Totals Under 2.5 @ 1.787 Pinnacle 4/10

      I'm also on Senators ML @ 2.02 Pinnacle 5/10

Tailing El Nino but I threw in a couple of words anyway: Minnesota had a superb start of the season but their winning streak is coming to an end as some troubles are surfacing. They have huge struggles converting on powerplay. 2nd worst powerplay in the league. Captain Parise got concused so he is out of the lineup. He is their most efficient player. Most of the matches Wild have won with their defense which has a renome of being the best in the league. But tonight Backstrom will start and he is far from fitting into the best defense. Ottawa has a solid start of the season, they are coming into this match with a victory over Detroit. More or less they play good defense and score as much as they have to for a victory. Chiasson is back in the lineup after sitting one out which should give them some more power in offense as he is one of the top producers in the team. It might be a close match tonight but I don't think Minnesota should be a favorite here.

I'm taking a day/night off so no picks today. If I had to call something, that would be Detroit and Carolina but I'm not confident enough to lay money on them.

              Killin It Zdenok. Good Stuff!

What do you think about Springfield @ Manchester today? I think the over looks good with the Falcons allowing and scoring lots of goals as of late.

It looks good but considering my luck with match totals this year it will end 3-2 if I bet on over. They both played yesterday so tonight might be a more sleepy match with less scoring.

St. Louis Blues - Buffalo Sabres

I can't see how Sabres could beat Blues. St. Louis is one of the hottest teams in the league. Solid defense with solid goaltending, Tarasensko show in offense, now they got back Stastny which should give them more depth. After 7 straight victories Blues lost in a tight divisional derby against Predators but they were free for 3 days since so they should be well prepared to get back on the winning track. Might not be a high scoring match as currently only 1 line is scoring for Blues but Sabres are the worst team in the league. They managed to beat Detroit and lost two close matches but they got shown where their place is by Penguins. Offense is pretty much the worst in NHL as they average only 22 SOG with 1.12 goals scored per game. I just don't see how they could beat St. Louis with this. Somehow they are able to hold good defense but mostly they are just lucky opponents can't score more and Neuvirth is doing outstanding job to save their honor. 6:1 loss vs Penguins is pretty realistic despite Pens having the best offense in the league. Last year St. Louis swept mutual series and expect it to continue this year. Odds are appropriate so I'll try the -1.5 handicap on Blues as Sabres lost all their road matches by at least 2 goals so far. I also think Blues can keep Sabres under 2 goals.

                        Pick 1: Buffalo Sabres Team Totals Under 1.5 @ 2.05 Pinnacle 3/10
                        Pick 2: St. Louis Blues -1.5 @ 1.80 Pinnacle 3/10

                        Arizona Coyotes - Dallas Stars

Stars are looking to end the disappointing 7 losses streak. Poor defensive effort and struggling Lehtonen cost them lately. I mostly base this one on motivational factor as they will have less chances vs Kings, Wild and Blackhawks to snap out of the slump. Coyotes had their winning streak of 3 ended by Islanders in the final 3 minutes as they lost with 0:1. They were showing good defensive effort in the past few matches and Smith only allowed 2 goals in average which is a major improvement since October. Despite that I think Stars have huge firepower in offense, Benn-Seguin and Hemsky-Spezza duos should be able to penetrate Arizona's defense. The only question is if they can keep pucks out of their own net.

Pick: Dallas Stars ML @ 1.99 MarathonBet 3/10

                                            Anaheim Ducks - LA Kings

Getzlaf is the first centreman of Ducks and he is averaging 2.5 shots on goal per game. Kings are among teams which allow many shots on goal while Anaheim is in the upper half of teams with shots fired per match. I expect a derby between these two tonight, also with some penalties so Getzlaf should get some powerplay chances. In last two matches without Perry playing in his line he made 2 SOG in ~20 min of ice time vs Canucks and Coyotes so I think it is realistic to expect him to at least push vs Kings tonight.

Pick: Ryan Getzlaf Over 2 SOG (OT included) @ 1.85 Betsson 1/10

Getzlaf is the first centreman of Ducks and he is averaging 2.5 shots on goal per game. Kings are among teams which allow many shots on goal while Anaheim is in the upper half of teams with shots fired per match. I expect a derby between these two tonight, also with some penalties so Getzlaf should get some powerplay chances. In last two matches without Perry playing in his line he made 2 SOG in ~20 min of ice time vs Canucks and Coyotes so I think it is realistic to expect him to at least push vs Kings tonight.

                                                  LA Kings - Anaheim Ducks

Kings are scoring high 2.8 goals in average at home ice so far and if you don't count the first season match where they had Cup hangover, they average more than 3 goals. They scored first in 6 out of 9 matches, two times they allowed a goal first and once the score was 0-0 so the winner was decided in SO where Kings won. Kings did play a derby with Ducks yesterday and the match went into SO but I don't think it should be a problem. They are scoring goals as Kopitar-Gaborik line has lit up. Quick should get a day off so expect Jones to start. Stars are 5-2 allowing first goal on the road. Their defense is very weak and furthermore they sold Gonchar to Montreal without any proper replacement. Lehtonen is solid but he can't do miracles if they will continue to hang him dry. 9 days ago Kings have beaten Stars in Dallas with 3:1 though Stars have struck first.

                                                            Belarus Extraliga:

Mogilev has the worst defense in the league, they allow more than 5 goals in average. Tomorrow they will play without 2 top defensemen which will weaken their D-line more. On Sunday they played with same lineup and lost 13-0 so there are good chances for another over tomorrow.

                                                            Pick: Totals over 6 @ 1.63 MarathonBet 5/10

Molodechno will play with their strongest squad this year. They got 3 players from KHL club Dinamo Minsk: Lopachuk in offense, Filichkin in defense and Shelepnyov in net. They are huge additions for the club. Additionally forward Abmetka has served his suspension so he will be back and they signed 2 fast forwards, one of them was on a try-out with KHL club Metallurg Novokuznetsk and he should fit well in Belarus league. Lida is in a bad shape and form, they have 7 straight losses and tomorrow they will play without defender Shipilo. A few more key players are also questionable - forward Orlyuk and defenders Kamenkov, Filippov.

                                                            Pick: Dinamo Molodechno @ 1.819 Pinnacle 5/10

KHL: Salavat Ufa - Barys Astana

A derby of two teams with successful offense for 4th place of the East coast. Barys is extremely offensive minded team, they are scoring more than 3 goals in average. Salavat a bit less but they are one of the top scoring teams as well. Both teams are also sharing weaker defensive gameplay as they allow the most goals amongst the playoff contenders. Salavat is currently in a bit worse form but I think they should be able to score a couple vs Barys. That's offensive minded style of hockey where they bet to score more than they conceide (khm Pittsburgh Penguins-like khm) so I think this match has a nice potential to go over. In last 2 seasons they only once played under 5 in mutual matches (OT included).

Surprisingly currently Montreal is in the top of the league with the most points but they have 3 more games played than Penguins and they are 4 points ahead of them. Habs have won 6 straight matches but I don't think they deserve this record. At least as much as I was watching they weren't that convincing but in the end they managed to win anyway. Tonight there are good chances for their streak to end as they will host Penguins who are a good offensive team which knows how to punish the defensive mistakes and beat Tokarski or Price no matter how solid he might seem in net. Habs usually have a slow start which is exact opposite of how Penguins go into match. Pittsburgh has won 9 out of last 10 played matches, they lost huge vs Rangers where they got shut out for the first time in the season but you never win them all and it seemed like a good time for a break anyway. They recovered straight away by beating Maple Leafs on the road and revenging Rangers at home in a "bizzare" shootout where they were a better opponent in my opinion and despite Lundqvist's good preformance they got both points in the end. Tonight Olli Määtta is back in the lineup which is a nice moral boost. Recovering in just 2 weeks after getting his tumour removed, amazing what American sports connected docs can do. Dupuis is out of the lineup which should leave a tiny gap in Crosby's line but considering the history of Sid vs Habs he might as well beat them alone tonight. In 25 mutual matches he notched 35 points. Montreal recently added Gonchar to their defense which boosted it nicely and also gave them some efficiency in powerplay realization. 13 % realization is still nothing compared to the Penguins' powerplay which is by far the best in the league with 32.8 %. They are also better in penalty killing. I believe this match is the top match of the day as these two divisional leaders will battle eachother for first place of the East and if Penguins will show similar performance with speedy and dangerous offensive pressure as they did last vs Rangers, I think they will win. Allons Y Pens!
