I guess uneven is a better term sometimes they look out of sync still. I'm a doofus I suppose, but with their skill - I think they should threaten almost every PP. Unrealistic surely.

Still some worrysome games when they seem to just throw it at the net and not get enough quality chances. Mostly spoken in the last post out of goal less frustration

Haha when I read back and saw your plays I kinda figured it was out of frustration. I thought they looked good from what I saw. It was definitely the most complete game by the looks of it that they've played all playoffs. Not sure how much of that was the Rangers being tired, but I'm hoping a lot because I'm riding the Pens again tonight.

So no explanation for Pens and Eagles fan?

Just the way I am. Not one of those all or nothing allegiances to one city. Born in Jersey, live in TX now. Technically, Houston was my home team growing up, but besides the Totten Astros - I hold no alliance to Houston sports.

Pens for me was simply watching Lemieux play. Absolutely loved them from that moment forward.

Pittsburgh Penguins @ NY Rangers; playoff round 2, G3

The Rangers offensive will have to produce more shots on goal (and score more goals!) if they want to surpass the Penguins in this series. Both Martin St. Louis and Derek Stepan had an off-day in G2 with only 1 SOG each. In G1, St. Louis produced 2 SOG and Stepan accomplished 5. The first plays of the evening are:

05-05-14 - FIRST PICK: Total shots on goal in the game - Martin St. Louis (NYR): OVER 2½ (-109) x 0.5 units.

05-05-14 - SECOND PICK: Total shots on goal in the game - Derek Stepan (NYR): OVER 2½ (-105) x 0.7 units.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL SPORTS FANS!

            bernardoGui NHL PLAYOFF record: 23 - 19 ( +2.87 )

Yesterday developed into a nightmare for most bettors, with an eye for snooker and soccer. Odds-favored Ronnie O' Sullivan lost the final game of the 2014 Snooker World Cup in Sheffield, UK.

As for the story of Liverpool FC's epic loss on monday evening, a single night's sleep (or the lack thereof) hasn't been nearly enough to even begin to come to terms with WTF happened in those last 11 minutes of a game that easily could/should have kept Liverpool within grasp of the Premier League title. Instead, they conceded 3 goals in 11 minutes, drawing the game at 3-3 AND practically lost the championship (which they haven't won since 1990!).

As someone wrote on betfair.com: "..a lot of houses were lost tonight!". Another statement, on the same page, took notice of a bettor who placed 300.000 £ on Liverpool at odds 1.01, when they scored their third goal with 35 minutes left of the second half. Jeez Louise..

As they say: UK NOT OK!

AS WE SAY: THANK GOD FOR THE NHL PLAYOFFS!

              Bruins @ Canadiéns, playoff round 2, G3.

              Some stats from G2:

              shots by period
              1st 6 13
              2nd 15 13
              3rd 7 9
              Total 28 35

As I expect the Canadiéns to marginally (maybe even notably!?) improve their 1st and 3rd period numbers, my first play of the day is:

05-06-14 - FIRST PICK: Total saves in the game - Tuukka Rask (BOS): OVER 27 (-120) x 1.2 units.

              Bonne chance a tout!

Well, once again the Montréal Canadiéns left the puck for the Bruins in a 3rd period and they almost didn't get away with it! Empty netter aside, the Bruins owned the last 10 minutes of the 2nd as well as all of the 3rd period and they kept Habs at a period total of 4 SOG. Rask was pulled after making 22 saves (19 in the first two periods!). 6 saves short of a win, 5 saves short of push.

As much as I appreciate the effort from the Bruins in the last half of the game, there's simply no excuse for the ridiculously low offensive numbers from the Canadiéns. The way things developed is just another reminder that they can't leave anything to the initiative of the Boston Bruins and that the logic of a sudden defensive approach doesn't apply to a Boston Bruins matchup, let alone the NHL playoffs!

Though I'm a tad more interested in the NFL draft, starting in 40 mins, here's the first NHL pick of the evening:

05-08-14 - Bruins @ Canadiéns; Total saves in the game - Carey Price (MON): OVER 30½ (-120) x 1.27 units.

Well.. Had to try it. Not a particularly good game by Marty (statistically), but it was clear that he and the team were focused and the Rangers really earned a G6 tonight. Come Sunday, I think the SOG prop. might be worth a look once more..

                                Bruins @ Canadiéns, playoff round 2 - G6

Reviewing the SOG- and goalie stats from G4 and G5 particularly (and this series as such), two things seem apparent right away:

                                1) Both teams will probably produce a +30 SOG record. If G6 goes to OT - and I most humbly think that it will - the SOG stats will tend to become even higher. This is going to be a tough, physical game and I wouldn't be surprised if We'll see at least one OT period.

                                2) Both goaltenders have an outstanding record:

                                C. Price 9 6-3 24 282 2.49 .915

                                T. Rask 10 7-3 18 302 1.70 .940

Tuukka Rask seem to stand out just a little further though and I think that the OVER 27½ total saves in game (-115) will be a good call tonight. As the stats also reveal a higher SOG record for the Canadiéns, this should support this bet even more. Of course there's the question of the efficiency of the Montréal offense vs. the actual performance of Tuukka Rask but I'm afraid there's simply no way of knowing until after the game.

The only thing We do know is that the Bruins' defence (with Tuukka Rask as a very important part) have been allowing the fewer goals against in this series and that the offensive of the Canadiéns is producing the most SOG. I see no reason for this to change tonight; not least because the Canadiéns are in a must win situation and cannot afford to loose any offensive momentum whereas the Bruins are in the favorable leading position which means that they are not as dependent on their SOG stats as they are on their defensive stats in G6 tonight.

I have also been considering the UNDER 31½ total saves for Carey Price but with the high probability of an OT game the OVER actually becomes more interesting. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the risk at the moment which is why I am sticking with the lowest OVER (27½), in the goalie prop. dept. For now:

05-12-14 - FIRST PICK; Total saves in the game - Tuukka Rask (BOS): OVER 27½ (-115) x 1 unit.

                                GL!

I tip my hat to the Montréal Canadiéns and their effort tonight. The stars awarded to the three P's were definitely well earned! Unfortunately, no win was earned tonight.

Point-wise, yesterday's performance by the Penguins' top liners was overwhelmingly emberrassing.. Kunitz' SOG rate was a slight improvement though and just enough for the bet to hit . And then there's this guy:

                                          WOW !!!

Montréal Canadiéns @ Boston Bruins - playoff round 2, G7

In G6, I think it became apparent very early that the Canadian side is in this series to be reckoned with. The Bruins however, didn't realize this until it was too late. With the shut-out-humiliation fresh in memory, as well as this being a 'G7', I think that the Bruins will come out with a different and much more focused approach on home ice tonight.

The SOG total from G6 was 28-26 in favor of the Canadiéns. In G5 it was 31-30 - also in the favor of the Canadian side. In G4 the SOG total was 35-33 in favor of the Bruins. The Canadiéns have produced marginally more SOG (1) but the totals have been falling over the last three games. For obvious reasons, no coach (nor franchise!) like this particular trend very much and I think it will be a +65 SOG in total tonight..

Both teams are playing to reach the Conference Finals AND the goalies are both top contenders for the Vezina Trophy (awarded for being the NHL’s top goaltender).. In other words: there's A LOT at stake. Thats why I think it will be a very controlled game from both sides and that the goalies will produce + 30 saves in a very tactical, physical and therefore also a potentially very long hockey game. Price has been outstanding, almost throughout, whereas Rask isn't very far behind, in my opinion.

BUT WHO WILL BE DOING THE SHOOTIN'?

Iginla (BOS) had 6 SOG in G6, which is quite a contrast to his 1 SOG in G5! Lucic only had 1 SOG in G6 and 0 in G5! I will be expecting at least two more SOG from him tonight. He had 4 SOG in G4.

Absolutely no 'puck luck' in favor of the Rangers on those many scoring chances they've created. Our boy Tokarski seems to have used it all, though he's also shown some talent,
