San Jose averages just under two goals scored per 1st period, while allowing only 0.6. Detroit averages right around one goal scored per 1st period, but gives up just 0.4. The juice is loose, but this Ducks squad remain red hot. They have scored at least three goals in seven straight and only one of those was benefited by the shootout. Bernier in net for Toronto has given up three goals or more in three straight starts. Toronto The Leafs have given up at least three goals in 3/4 overall and 3/5 at home.

In NHL, do you have an opinion on the DET/OTT game tonight? I want to bet DET team TT over 2.5 (-150). DET has not been scoring a whole bunch so far this year, but I have to believe they can put in 3 vs OTT @ home, especially right after that scoreless shootout game vs San Jose. Goalies and tight defenses tell you this probably is stupid. Offenses and stats, tell you at plus money it might be worth it. Bs have scored at least once in all but two games so far this season. Sharks remains one of the best early striking teams despite not scoring against Detroit in the 1st last time out. SJ is still averaging 1.56 goals per 1st period. It looks good till it loses.

Caps should do most of the damage here as they have scored four goals or more in four of their last five. Ramo has had some big time struggles for CAL in goal, giving up four goals or more in three of his four starts. Three of those starts have featured six goals. Holtby goes for WAS. He's been solid lately, but is he gives up two - that should be enough. Would take the Caps TT, but my book has it at -170 @ Over 2.5. While I think that's a foregone conclusion, trying to keep from laying the high chalk.
