Less skilled bjj practitioners advance to a blue belt in less time than he's been taking bjj. If he is still a white belt, it's very safe to assume that he's at least at blue belt level. So hush up, dummy.

My plays for UFC 150:
#1 - Nik Lentz - The first round could go either way, but I give the edge to Lentz. Second and third will be all Lentz. I don't see him getting caught and put away in the first, so as long as this fight makes it to the second, I see him finishing it with a choke. If it goes three, he takes the decision. I don't see it making the distance, though. Nik Lentz ITD is the play here. This is one of my biggest plays of the year.
#2 - Ben Henderson - I see Bendo finishing this one with a guillotine. Wouldn't be surprised if he scores a KO, either. I went all-in on Fight Goes Over 4.5 rounds last time around, but this time my gut is telling me the chances of it ending ITD are a lot better than before. I'm gonna take a shot at Bendo by Sub and Bendo ITD and sprinkle a little on Bendo by KO. Also taking him straight-up, big.
#3 - Max Holloway - I see Holloway winning by stoppage or decision. Worst case scenario, I think he earns a split decision. He should be able to get the better of one of the first two rounds, and the third will very likely belong to him due to his cardio advantage. Fighting at altitude in Denver is no good for Justin Lawrence. If he tries to wrestle Holloway, he's going to tire even quicker, 'cos Holloway has great TDD and if goes to the ground, is very active off his back. Especially for a blue belt.
#4 - Yushin Okami - Okami ITD is what I'm going with. I don't expect to see this make it to the second half of the fight, so I'm not too worried about him gassing like before. Also, I'm not too worried about him gassing out because Buddy Roberts has poor cardio, too, and doesn't possess the KO power Tim Boetsch has.
#5 - Donald Cerrone - Cerrone ITD -- For some reason, I see a lot of finishes on this card! May continue over from the FOX card... Cerrone should fight smart, and fight to win. I know he's an idiot, but I think he knows better this time around. Cerrone by sub.
#6 - Ed Herman - Herman ITD - Could see him taking a decision, too. I'm taking him straight up, parlayed with Nik Lentz.
Agree with all, gabe, but I do think holloway / lawrence is a true coin flip and I do lean lawrence.
And while i pick lentz for sure, I think the line is way too steep and I almost see value in eiji, as I think he is always a threat and his wrestling is very underrated and he hits really hard. Lentz will prob grind it, but if eiji's cardio is in check (not short notice like against gomi), lentz could be in for a long and grueling fight.
GL tomorrow.

I listened to Lawrence's MMAJunkie interview last night. He seems to think that he hasn't felt the change in altitude whatsoever and attributes it to his use of the training mask/snorkel. I haven't done any independent research on such devices but I hear they can cause more harm than good. Could this show that there is a certain degree of ignorance in Lawrence's conditioning methods?
Also, do you know how Holloway prepared for the change in increased altitude?
I've been considering a sizable play (by my standards) on Holloway but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

No idea how he prepared, but I do know he should have the cardio advantage, no matter what. Dude has cardio for days, think early BJ Penn. Once he becomes purple belt level with his bjj, this kid is going to be siiiiiiiiiiiiiick.

When did BJ show cardio for days? Serious question.

Early 155 days, no? He was impressive in the 5th round of fights.

From what I recall Penn slowed down late in the 4th round against Pulver...and all he did in Rnd 5 was land a kick to the nuts and it was probably the only round that Pulver clearly won and cost Penn the fight as he'd clearly won rounds 2 and 3 and 1 was a toss up.

Haters gonna hate cousin. I cashed on Benson, Lentz and Cerrone... but Ken Stone f*cked up quite a few plays. I even had tha mfr parlayed with Chico muthafawkin Camus ... Still made some pizza money though.
Are there any Armenian pizza parlors? That would be sweet... that marinated stuff on a f*cking pizza. I'm a open one if not. Then retire early. SBR points will be redeemable for Armenian pizza for sure.

Nice work Gabe. I had most of those plays as well minus Ed Herman.
I scored it 3-2 Edgar. I only gave Henderson the first and 4th rounds.

I honestly think rounds 3, 4, and 5 could go either way, so you can't really argue ANY decision they came up with.

Just wish I had gone all-in on Holloway. Jesus being on Lawrence made me a little nervous. I should have went with my gut, that was the best value on the card.
You should risk all your winnings to make an extra couple hundred bucks on Ronda this weekend.

That is funny because I was thinking of throwing down huge on Rhonda this weekend. But at -550/-600, I just can't do that. She seems to get hit a lot standing. She wins this, but -550 is too risky for me bra.

Only way it loses is if she gets cut early and they stop it or DQ'd, something crazy like that.
She's not getting KO'd and she will easily get a hold of Kaufman. She easily gets hold of UFC fighters, Kaufman won't be a prob.
It's at least worth a "to win $50" -- free fitty!!

That sort of bet is fine until a favourite loses, and you lose all of the small increments of money you made doing it plus extra.

Um, yeah, if you're an idiot and are betting plays like that regularly. Ronda Rousey doesn't fight every weekend, so it's not the same thing.

No, actually that's not true. It doesn't matter even if you only do it one time a year, because eventually what I said will happen - the favourite will lose and you will lose the small profits you made plus extra. If you're saying you would only do it once ever then what you're saying would make sense.

Rather risk 600 to win 100 on Jon Jones or Ronda Rousey than 600 to win 600 on a random fight where the odds are not in my favor.
You're right, though. If I continue to bet Jones, Rousey, Silva, Aldo whenever it seems clear they will get an easy win, it is possible that I may someday get screwed. Nobody said these fighters who are worth the risk will never lose, so thank you for pointing that out. If you didn't mention it, I would have never thought that losing might be a possibility...
If you keep betting those fights and eventually one of them ends up losing, you will have profited from the earlier winnings, so that one loss won't take all your profits and extra. I've made a lot of money on Jon Jones, if he loses to Hendo, I will still be in profit from what I've made off him.
