I think the best way to cap fights is to open the highlight videos of both guys at the same time and then make my decision. Sometimes, I overlap the windows to make it seem like they are fighting each other.

Also, the recent death of Benoist's brother wasn't mentioned in the podcast...if I was backing Benoist I'd be a bit concerned that he hasn't perhaps had the best of camps and might not be in the best of mental states. But then again maybe he'll come in like a man possessed and destroy Seth in honour of his brother!

Why? Was Seth the one who killed him?

That's because the news hadn't spread until later in the week, while we recorded earlier in the week. Now that it's well known, I am worried about my bet on Benoist. He looked softer at the weigh ins this time than he did last time too. Oh, well... What can you do? I still like him to win.

As for what i like watching, like most, I find wrestlers to be less exciting than other styles. Although, I don't hate wrestlers.
In terms of favoring wrestlers, it all depends on the style matchup. I do find that wrestlers are usually the best guys to bet on, though. I've cashed on so many underdogs who were good wrestlers with the ability to grind out their opponents, going against a guy who is a dangerous striker or BJJ guy. However, I don't have a bias towards them or anything. I just find that the wrestling style matches up the best with other styles most of the time. A guy can be worse on the feet and in BJJ, yet still win. Plus, judges are biased towards wrestlers. If I think fight is a total coin flip and I really can't decide, I'll usually lean towards the wrestler slightly since they can dictate where the fight takes place.
That said, I've also bet against overvalued wrestlers many times. All depends on the style matchup. I still to this day cannot believe Jose Aldo was only -220 against Chad Mendes. That's a fight Aldo wins 99/100 times.
thanks, I was just curious if you had a bias..

Really? I didn't hear about it until Friday. I admit, though, I haven't been on top of MMA news as much as usual this week thanks to tennis. So much to bet on, so little time for research/study.

Rocky Balboa
and look how far he got in the sport, the guy used to work at a meat factory during the day and then fight during the night, he ended up winning the heavyweight title in 86 against Drago.
Also don't forget Bert Rogers also a part time fighter, the rest of the time he changed tires at sears ended up knocking out Arolvsky for the strikeforce championships
LOL...

Luca..you keep mentioning how Silva is untested and tonight should answer a few unknowns regarding him...What about Brenneman? Has he ever fought anyone as dangerous as Silva on the ground? Looking at his past fights, I'd say no..

Ninja Roberts, although a purple belt, is probably as dangerous or more-- we'll see--

I watched the fight you said that silva gassed in and he didn't look as bad as i thought and still managed a sub early in round 3...I think this could be Brenneman's fate if he gets Silva down..

Even if Benoist was 100% prepared, Seth B still more than likely takes him.

This. Daniel Roberts is a VERY talented grappler, a better one than Erick. Brenneman avoided all his sub and sweep attempts without too much trouble. Sure, Silva has some sub wins on his record, but against complete nobodies.

Daniel Roberts is better a BJJ than Erick and Charlie was able to stifle all of his sub and sweep attempts in a 15 minute ground fight. Also, Silva fades badly, so it will be even easier for Brenneman to avoid his subs the longer the fight goes.
You're missing BY FAR the most important Erick Silva fight.
Watch that, and everyone will understand why I bet Brenneman. This is his 4th most recent fight (more recent than those), and since then, he's only fought for a combined 2 minutes. Here, he showed poor takedown defense vs a guy who is not even good wrestler, let alone on Brenneman's level, as well as terrible cardio. Sure, he got a sweep at one point, but the guy he was facing doesn't have the base Charlie does, and even when he got to mount from it, Erik couldn't do anything with it.
That is the single most important fight of Silva's for tape study relating to the fight tomorrow.
Thanks man. I am thinking I might have to buy out of my bet now.. Silva looked terrible in that fight, and it wasn't even in a cage, which I think helps wrestlers even more.

I've put a decent amount on Brenneman now. You also have to understand that grinding out Rick Story (solid wrestler) is not an easy task. What I like about Brenneman - much tougher competition, better wrestling, better cardio and a lot of heart. Brenneman will not be intimidated by Silva. If he gets Silva down early, I believe Silva will gas and his KO power is neutralized for the most part.

Better TDD than Silva with a better wrestling pedigree.

It's about making money, if I use an unorthodox way to win and it works, there should be no complaints.

How often has it worked tho? Do u not think tht it could of been coincidence? U wer saying tht Dos Santos has a better camp then Cain because Cain trains with Bader and Dolloway (which he doesnt). Yes u happened to get it right tht time, but Im not so sure judging fights based on highlights will work out for u in the long term

Of course watching the full fight videos is the better way to see how fighters perform. I watch both highlight videos and full fight videos.

Ballsy claim against a BJJ blackbelt who trains with Jacare Souza. Granted no idea where he got the BB.

Nice call I loaded up on Silva and thought he would win inside the distance not like that but I'll take it.
