Like I said, my brother used to fight with his hands down and it wasn't to block body shots and he has philosophy on why but I won't go into why with people that do not understand

Would of taken him to win if he had an extra 1 minute or 2.

I have fought 5 amateur mma fights and have trained for years in muay thai and jiu jitsu so I think know how fighters fight... It is all about the style they are comfortable with. When i would fight I would protect myself by covering body from body shots. I preferred my hands up but if someone working my body i would protect it especially against a good fighter that likes to kick. Silvas style seemed to work well throughout his career.

Fighting with hands down toe to toe is a no no. It's not a successful style of fighting. If you're gonna fight with hands down, you need to get in and get out. Just stop with your it's to protect from body shot bullshit

Low hands help defend against takedowns, to block a body shot you should be using your elbows and twisting your body, unless someone is actually boxing or using a philly shell defence imo

Yeah. He is one of my favorite fighters. I hated seeing him take all of those early leg kicks knowing the damage that he took to his leg 6 or 7 years ago. Kind of wish that he woudl have punched out a few years ago.
