Clint Hester missed weight by .7 pound.

Bethe looked upset the crowd cheered louder for Ronda than they did her. Haha. She should just get a brazilian flag tattoo'ed on her forehead that way she wouldn't have to carry one around everywhere she goes.

If Bethe did and said things to provoke Ronda into fighting off emotion and not use her brains, that might be a smart move. Bethe is better at fighting while moving backwards than anyone else in the women's 135 div. If Bethe can get off counter strikes to a bull rushing Ronda that might work.

But if Bethe really believes the things she's saying about Ronda, Bethe is an idiot.

Did Rousey not look a little off in the weigh-in today? Idk how to describe it but I'm not a big weigh-ins guy so maybe she is always like that. Either way, this will be a killing IMO

That's what Ronda normally looks like at weigh ins.

If anything she seemed more relaxed than normal.

I think Bethe is better than people are giving her credit for. But Bethe is only good standing. I doubt Bethe will be able to stop the armbar or the judo toss that sets up the armbar. Bethe's only chance is if Ronda makes it a stand up fight and Bethe gets lucky enough to earn the finish.

Just watch the free fight with Bethe against Jessamyn on UFC's official channel and compare that performance to any of Rouseys fights. Bethe could really die tomorrow. She doesnt even have one single advantage. She can move her limbs and do some damage with them and thats it. ROndas core strenght is from another dimension in her weight class. She could throw her on her head and kill her.

Good luck fit hope I don't let ya down..

I like Miranda's stand up a little better then Hesters.. Hester missed weight as well and should be spent after trying to make the cut.. Both have KO power so you never know though? At favorable odds I had to go with Miranda..

I see no reason why Alcantara, Lopes and Franca should lose period.. Big favorites and all for good reasons... These were pretty much my thoughts on the 3 fights that we didn't discuss on this thread... Bleacher report short reads below hit a bit on each. (copy and paste) -

                Alcantara -

                Division: Bantamweight
Records: Iuri Alcantara (31-6), Leandro Issa (13-4)
See it on: Fox Sports 1
Alcantara was on a nice roll until February, when he dropped a decision to Frankie Saenz. Looks like his desire to jump up the ladder will be stymied a little longer. You can't really jump up a ladder, but metaphorically, I think it makes the proper point.
Alcantara's loss is this undercard's gain. No one's going to confuse him for a contender, but he's a well-rounded veteran with a nose for the finish.
Issa's a veteran himself, having earned a name mainly fighting in Asia. Issa can hold his own with Alcantara on the ground; both are Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belts. Alcantara will have a striking edge, though, and that will be the difference.

                Prediction: Alcantara, unanimous decision

                Lopes -

                Division: Bantamweight
Records: Dileno Lopes (18-1), Reginaldo Vieira (12-3)
                See it on: Pay-per-view
I know what you're thinking: "I don't know who these fighters are." Don't worry. I'm no rat.
This is the TUF: Brazil 4 bantamweight final, with the winner getting that shiny new UFC contract.
Lopes has been a fixture in prospect discussions for years now (mainly at flyweight). Though he is mostly a submission grappler, the Nova Uniao trainee showed in the season semifinals that he can strike, too, exchanging with and ultimately getting the better of a seasoned stand-up fighter in Matheus Nicolau.
Regardless of the phase, Lopes likes to pressure the other man. Vieira is a little more tactical, preferring to get inside, tie up his opponents and work for submissions.
When the action takes place at a distance, Lopes should have a large advantage. Vieira may be able to out-muscle Lopes, but I don't see him maintaining control for extended stretches.

                Prediction: Lopes, unanimous decision

                Franca -

                Division: Lightweight
Records: Fernando Bruno (15-2), Glaico Franca (12-3)
                See it on: Pay-per-view
Here is the TUF: Brazil 4 lightweight final.
Bruno seems to have different gears when he fights. When he's in the higher gears, he's a thick-bodied grappler with what looks to me to be some powerful (if clunky) boxing.
Franca is mainly a ground fighter but is the more dynamic fighter of the two, always working two moves ahead and scrambling for a choke, which he used in each of his victories during the season. He's only 24 years old (nine years younger than Bruno) and should be able to leverage his cardio and athleticism to beat Bruno to the (probably metaphorical) punch.

                Prediction: Franca, unanimous decision

Fading the old Brazilian 3 looks good to me. 2 to 1 on Soa hurts me to do, but Big Foot looked like the Walking Dead before getting into the ring for the Mir fight.

read the above link to apply some much-needed perspective (ie. pour much-needed cold water on) RR's skills in particular and the skill-level of the WMMA game in general...relative to "real" MMA

yes, RR's miles ahead of the WMMA pack...and as a result, she simply hasn't had to patch up glaring holes in her game because the rest of the pack hasn't even wised up sufficiently to what they are, let alone adapted to them

in the men's game you can't just rush in taking whatever collateral necessary to get the clinch...but in the women's game, RR can and does just that, repeatedly...

will be interesting to see if Correia at least tries, when Honda inevitably rushes in to clinch to

                      1. "sidestep instead of backstep", thus freeing up an angle for an unprotected shot to the body or ear...

                      OR--even better--

                      2. "meet her incoming face with a hard elbow"

instead of just doing the same dumbass WMMA thing of letting the judoka "close the distance, lock up, and launch" them to their doom
                      _________
would be nice to at least see da'broadz'game START to evolve out of this personality-marketing cult industry phase it's been locked into since it's inception...WMMA at BW=Ronda-fascination...

Luckily for WMMA, there's another weight class, where JJ (and what looks possibly like an actual crop--esp if Jag shows well tomorrow--of legit contenders, not merely paid-squashees a la 135) has brought some refreshingly-crisp skill AND POWER to the straw-weight division...in fact, she has already added some offensive wrinkles to TDD in MMA-writ-large with the way she characteristically overhooks and applies pressure on the head to exact a substantial additional punishment "tax" on the TD-shooter...this "technique meme" is spreading thanks to JJ and the SW's...while the BW-Rousey's "walk in, hip toss, arm-bar" signature is not...because it simply CAN not for the reasons made abundantly clear in the article linked-to above
                      _____

i'll be watching tomorrow night to see if BC at least TRIES to sidestep-rather-than-backstep (and take advantage of the angle created therefrom), OR deliver an elbow to the incoming face...something to watch for...t'would be a milestone of sorts...one that i, honestly expect to have to wait for Tate to employ some semblance of in her third crack at RR

115 division is very interesting, a lot of diverse fighters with different skillsets, and above all, that are actually good.

135 has always been a waste land regarding woman, which is why Ronda shines so bright. I mean, your champion if not for Ronda, would be Meisha Tate, a girl who consistently block punches with her head, and has the fight IQ of a plastic bag.

^well said 'bout the W135's terrible lack of depth right now...ideally, Tate should be filling the niche of a fan-favorite gritty fighter like a Chris Lytle...not the sole hope for a changing of the guard...

Ronda-like dominance is not a sign of health...gotta be some percolation of legit challenges not just a succession of novelty squashes...

Rousey dedicated match to Rowdy Roddy Piper. After all she asked HIS permission if she could use his nickname.

somebody please reserve Bethe a hospital room for tomorrow night.

if you haven't seen the John Carpenter movie "They Live" starring the original Rowdy "I'm here to kick ass and chew bubblegum...and I'm fresh outa' gum" Roddy Piper...do so before tomorrow night's fights

it's a bona fide lo-budget great sci-fi action-horror movie to keep on a pedestal with other "simultaneously off the public's AND the critic's radar" classics that you can enjoy over and over again whenever you miss it...another one like that for me is the all-star cast western that hits all the cliche's well, "The Quick and the Dead"

amazing timing of Rowdy's passing...and should trigger a look into the legend that brought the two together, Judo Gene Lebell

One last GIF for the road.. Sorry Locky had to do it....

Better angles on this connection... Mir fakes a weak jab and then reaches out further for another weak swinging left hook, same arm coming over the top.... Puts Big Foot right on his arse... Kinda the same punch that Weidman connected with Anderson Silva but toned down a few notches...

Please look carefully and study this gif gents.. How easy was that though?..

Frank Mir didn't knock out Duffy with that same punch did he?

All you have to do to beat Big Foot Silva is press forward and get him backing up early on and from the very start... Connect with some weak asss shitt and he's planted.... Jaw is glaaaassss!!!!.. Soa I hope you read this!!!!

                                  All in on Soa...

                                    They Live is GOAT.

And Jiibby, that's called hooking off the jab, pretty much the trade mark of good boxing. Also why you could tell that Mir had improved dramatically in his boxing since his losing streak.

Bigfoot looked like shit at the weigh in also.

And Jiibby, that's called hooking off the jab, pretty much the trade mark of good boxing. Also why you could tell that Mir had improved dramatically in his boxing since his losing streak.

Bigfoot looked like shit at the weigh in also.

Yep hooking over the jab Miri...

Oh and yes Big Foot looked like the missing link at weigh ins.. Skinniest arms in the HW division.. Somebody please give this man some very needed TRT please.... This is getting hard to look at.....

Just watched the weigh-ins and the embedded videos. Gosh this Bethe broad is annoying as fuk. She thinks she is hot shit and she is not.

This will be a laugher and I can't wait to watch it honestly. Embarrass the shit out of her Rousey!

                                              All in on Soa...
.... there was nothing fluke about mir's punch.

I think a lot of the women may be born with a high level of testosterone to begin, therefor having more manly facial structure, but there is something with the proportions that do not seem right. It appears her jaw is to big in in relation to the cheekbones. It doesnt look real to me.
