#2453Sports betting and handicapping forum: discuss picks, odds, and predictions for upcoming games and results on latest bets.
Lost this thread play. Doubt anyone would dispute that it was the right side and a pretty good bet, though.
Went 0-4; Rua ITD +158 2u, Jason/Siler dec -160 4.5, Villante dec +170 2u, Shogun -148 4u...
...for -12.5u on my Twitter plays. Villante dec was probably the only way he wins that fight (most of the time), but then again, how often does he win a decision there? He simply doesn't have the gastank to grind Maldonado out. Even assuming that he almost never gets the finish, +170 for Villante by decision was probably still a really bad bet. He simply can't keep that pace.
Jason/Siler goes distance was some horrible, horrible variance, but that doesn't necessarily make it the right side. Nothing in the fight gave me any idea as to whether it was or not, so I'll keep my pre-fight opinion that it was.
I'm very confident that Shogun was a good bet, and also confident that Shogun ITD was a good bet.
Lots of variance, but some things I can learn from, too. Wild night overall, surprisingly not upset with the results - I'm more impressed than anything. I've never seen variance like that. It just kept coming.Comment -

#2455The crazy part was the consistency of the upset trend. I remember after the all the upsets on the prelims asking myself if I should take dogs on the main card. I decided not to because one should pick fights based on logical reasons to do with the fighters involved, not superstitious shit. However, there may have been perfectly logical forces at play that we just couldn't understand.Comment -

#2456Some thoughts:
Villante's gas tank really let him down tonight. That combined with his willingness to strike with Maldonado was his undoing.
Taisumov was being VERY overrated coming into his fight. I admit that I fell for his hype. One thing I find interesting was that most people picking Taisumov couldn't explain why he should be such a favorite. They acknowledged that Prazeres had the better wrestling but assumed that Prazeres would gas early enough to lose.
Leo Santos's striking looked much improved. His work with Nova Uniao clearly paid off and that fight looked very different than I expected. I still feel that the point deduction was too much and Parke should have gotten the victory, though.
So far this year, favorites seem to have won a disproportionate amount of the time. This may have led bettors to favor favorites more heavily this weekend than they should have.Comment -

#2459MMA Oddsbreaker went 0-2 in total bets. Losses tonight can be forgiven but their overall record this year has been pretty atrocious.
Other than Shogun, don't know what Luca's picks were but judging by his tweets he's not happy with tonight's results.Comment -

#2460That was a one off card bud, 1 dodgy decision the rest were just what they were. I think I had 4 picks on this one. Parke, Jason, Taisumov (from listening to others) and Lahat. The rest was either way for me, CB delivered, Shogun gave the fight away. Still think Maldonado is a bum hes my Brazilian Bobby Green. How a 'professional' fighter from a good team can gas like Villante did is criminal.Comment -

#2463I see that fight going a lot like Green's fight vs. Healy. The problem with Miller is that his amazing Jiu-Jitsu is useless if he can't get his opponent down. If it's just a striking match Green should have the clear advantage.Comment -

#2467Same here. Disappointed that the fight's delayed but July 5th is only about a month and a half later. That 173 card is looking pretty really weak now; hope they find a good headliner for it without taking fights from other cards.Comment -

Good to see you back, I figured you couldn't resist the urge to feel powerful by trying to insult people on a gambling forum. Will be ignoring your new account, too, as always. I dunno why you even bother coming on SBR just to shit-talk, honestly. I assumed you would give up on posting back when you gave up giving out plays after your 20u lock plays kept losing. Later buddy, looking forward to your next account.Comment -

Cheers. I saw Jiro Dreams of Sushi last night. Highly, highly recommended, I'd encourage you to see it ASAP if you have not. It's one of the best documentaries I've ever seen, definitely top three.
Saw Dark Knight Rises a couple of days ago for the first time. Loved Dark Knight, saw it when it came out. No idea what happened to Nolan here. I really liked Bane as a villain, for most of the film, and I was really expecting to love it, but I thought it wasn't great. Certainly good, I enjoyed it, but so many of the scenes seem contrived and ridiculous, and so much of the dialogue is cringe-worthy. Seriously, watch the opening scene.
Lost my shit at "you're a big guy". Bale's Batman is completely insufferable to me now, despite the fact that I've defended him in the past and I considered him a good Batman for quite some time. Bane's ending was also incredibly anti-climactic.Comment -

#2484Dark Knight was a way more well crafted film indeed. That scene was actually embarrassingly bad from Gillen, he's fallen far from his days on the Wire, or maybe it was Nolans fault. Bane was a good villain though, and I thought the anarchy plot was sort of interesting. But god damn the fight scenes was disappointing, the best they could come up with was Batman and Bane trading punches with technique reminiscence of Leonard Garcia? You went to martial arts school for 10 years in the Tibetan mountains for that Batman? Throw a spinning bat kick or something at least, damn.
Also lacked those 'pop' scenes that was really something, like the pencil and "hit me" scenes that really outlined the nature of the joker and batman really well, and was also pretty awesome otherwise.Comment -
