7.21.12: WC BO Play #18: Yankees-Athletics Over 7.5 [+100]
Jarrod Parker comes into this one off two straight poor starts. Are the wheels coming off or is this just a blip on the radar for the youngster? I'll go with market correction. He's got talent. You don't one hit the Rangers without talent, but against far lesser hitting squads than tonight's Yankee lineup - Minnesota & Seattle - Parker has given up ten runs in his last two starts combined. OVERs are 5 for 8 in his home starts with an average of eight runs per game. Phil Hughes for NY. Hughes has been solid over his last ten starts, but trends OVERs still on the road with four of seven hitting that way and an average of 9.75 runs per road start. Of those seven road starts, only two have failed to see at least eight runs. Hughes developed a nice Oakland allergy last year, giving up 13 runs in two starts. The names are different, but perhaps he's still a case of the light me up like a Christmas Tree sniffles to help this out. Not lyin' playaz, this just has a "feel" to it that these dudes are due to see some runs. So get yo' signs ready and let's put our hands up in about three hours with the sign language that pays.

Matt Harrison against Dan Haren. Haren coming straight off the DL. Rangers have hit Haren well. Beltre beating him up the most @ .436. Texas is 13-5 in Harrison's starts and have won nine of his last ten overall.

7.24.12: Angels Team Total Over 4.5 [-145]
Chalk is high, but worth it as the Angels get to tee off on the Fresh Prince, Will Smith of the Royals. Smith has been crushed in three of four starts, giving up four, five and seven runs in those three. In those three, the opposition has pounded KC for at least six runs. Three of their last four on this home stand have seen LA score at least six. They have banged lefties for a .285 average at home.

It's a matinee bail out special. Nova v. Iwakuma. NY has played UNDERs now in eight of their last nine as their bats have really struggled on this road trip especially. In the six games on this West Coast swing, they have only scored as many as four runs twice. The pitching has remained solid, only giving up more than four once. Nova has allowed two runs or less in seven of his last ten starts. Iwakuma has made three starts and all were fairly solid, two of three finishing UNDERs. In their last ten, Seattle has only allowed more than four runs scored against them in two games and both were on the road. At SAFECO, 13 of the last 15 played have finished with seven runs or less.

7.26.12: WC BO Play #22: More Strikeouts - Luis Mendoza [KC] over Vargas [SEA] +175
This is a Bovada prop, not sure if anyone else has it. Think Mendoza could give us a chance to throw some signs up later as the Royals visit SAFECO on the Wessssst Coast! #1, KC is the toughest team in baseball to strike out. They rank dead last in team Ks. #2, the Mariners are the fourth most strikeout prone lineup in the majors. Mendoza isn't a big K pitcher, but he does have at least at least four Ks in six of his last seven starts. Big deal? Well consider that in the Yankees series, Freddy Garcia established his season high with 8 Ks against Seattle & Kuroda whiffed 9, his second biggest total and you can expect Mendoza might be able to work somewhere to his best totals of six and nine. Vargas has his moments where he can produce Ks. He has struck out ten once this season and has five or more Ks in four of his last five starts. Let's note though that the one he failed to hit was against KC on the road where he struck out zero. Mendoza has been going six or better in most starts recently and I think that is a key number tonight. He needs that minimum to compete. Vargas has gone six or better in eight of his last ten and 18 if 21 overall, so you'd expect him to be around for a bit. Vargas may be trade bait too, so he could be auditioning tonight ... let's hope he doesn't show heavy K stuff & Mendoza takes advantage of the Seattle free swingers.

Mendoza sucks. At least it was for plus money, but he's putting forth one of his worst start in weeks. Probably won't be around past the 5th or 6th at this rate and is trailing by two Ks.

7.27.12: WC BO Play #23: Royals-Mariners Total Hits Over 16 [-115]
Guthrie only gave up four hits in his Royals debut, but he is still a guy who was giving up over a hit per inning with Colorado on the road. Beavan is up for Seattle. He has given up 27 hits in 25 IP @ SAFECO and gave up seven hits in 6 IP @ KC a couple starts ago. He comes off one of his best starts of the year against Tampa, but consistency has not been great for him. Seattle banged out 11 hits last night against Mendoza and KC should be keen to produce better after Vargas shut them down. Sign time.
