Off to my usual slow start. 0-2 with a no play on SanFran/LA due to the starters.

.5 unit plays for the next couple days.....
Houston +134...like the bats to stay hot, Wolf has struggled a bit a Petco, Chacon solid numbers against Pads
Chicago Cubs -133...basically a fade on David Bush, who has struggled badly against the Cubs. Soriano and Ramirez have punished him the last few years and hoping tomorrow this will continue
New York/Toronto over 8.5 -128.... bought a run and still kept it at this pretty fair price, good young pitchers but I like this line against these lineups, McGowan can allow alot of baserunners and Hughes is hittable, neither pitcher has dominated the other side.
Cincinnati -118.....Cincy with a big win in the 9th last night, I see a deflated Arizona club, basically fading the struggling Zona pen here, Doug Davis very hittable

Its really too bad about the push with San Fran because I think I had that one nailed. Weird thing, LA announces Billingsley wont start because of threat of rain, and then so does San Fran.
Its a long strange season. You have to love baseball.

I always struggle in April. Every year I go in the first few days with full units and every year I end up playing half units by the end of April and early May. This year I made up my mind I would even play half unit RL's if I had to until I got a handle on the flow of the season. There has been only one year in the past 7 or 8 since I started betting on baseball that I may have broke even in April.
Next year I am just going to do the right thing and play half units right from the start...or even just lay off totally (I am too much of an action junkie to totally lay off). August and September are always my best months.
Good luck to too sir. Its a long season with lots of nice opportunities along the way.

I'm with you on the Astros and Cubs.
Staying away from the Yankees as their my favorite team and try not to bet on them if I can.
I have Arizona as Davis has done pretty well against the Reds and Cueto as good as he's supposed to be had an ERA over 5 in the spring and is making his MLB debut. I think he may be shaky. GL though

That's what I love baseball, it's a long season that gets easier to cap as it develops. I hope you'll still have this thread running in May and June.

I sure will Andrew. The last year I lost units was 2004 and I was down about 10 units total for the season. 2005, 2006 were good years, last year was a bit of an off year, only ended up about 35 units.
I am not worried at all.
I notice you are on fire my friend. Good luck on the Mets play tomorrow.

Friday April 4
.5 unit plays again today and for the rest of April, unless I am really loving something. Dont want to burn up too many units until I can start playing system bets.......
Milwaukee-1.5 +114.....fading Jonathon Sanchez here, who I dont think can handle Milwaukee's lineup. San Fran has been bad the last 3 years during 2nd series opening games on the road. Anemic offense. Like the Brew Crew here to pull this one off handily.
New York Mets +118.....Atlanta looks bad this year and even with Hudson on the mound I think the Mets superior hitting wins them the game here. Hate fading a staff ace but Maine has held his own against the Braves and I think the Mets have the stronger pen.
Houston+157.....Sampsons numbers at Wrigley Field and vs the Cubs overall have been lights out the last 3 years. Check them out yourself they are mind blowing.....I am riding this trend here. I think this Houston lineup is underrated and the Cubs bullpen is shaky. Hoping Houston steals the opener here.
Texas/LAA over 9 -115.....12 of 17 games the last 3 years at Anaheim have gone over, two pretty average pitchers going at it this time out, like some of the big sluggers to have good days.
I think the Angels can score more this year and I think Texas lineup is underrated slightly.
Hoping to break through today and go over the hump. Struggling pretty bad so far but I sort of expected that. I am in for the long haul and I know things will get better and the season wears on.
Good luck to everyone on Friday

I'm right with you on the TEX/LAA over 9 line (going big here) and with MIL -1.5. I believe the Giant's offense is a joke this year and they'll be lucky to pull out 65 games this year. Vlad should have a real fun day tomorrow.

Thanks bro. I'm a little nervous about the RL on Milwaukee given that Gag-Me is their closer but I like the bats to keep this one out of reach.
Good luck with all your picks.

best of luck OLGV. I typically wait a week or so before diving in and do agree that you have to feel the season out.

Saturday April 5th
San Diego-135......grabbed this as soon as I saw the line. One reason and one reason only. Jake Peavy at home. 'nuff said.
For me this is a great value even with the chalk. Heck I would have grabbed it at -150.
As you can tell I am fairly confident about this play.
Adding more plays later tonight. Nice to see The Saint is on this one too.

once again today all half unit plays.
adding.....
Philadelphia +142......Harang has horrible numbers against the Phils, granted only one start in 2007. Phils are +4 units at Cincy over the last 3, Phils are 8-4 overall against the Reds the last 3. This one is a bit of risk with Meaton on the mound for the Phils, but at this number I like the Phils bats better than Harangs arm.
Boston-121.....hate betting against my Jays but have a bit of gut feeling that Litsch is going to get shelled today. Buchholz can keep the Jays in check, and even though the trend numbers are against the Sox I think the big bats have some nice days today and I'm not laying too much chalk.
Colorado +108......Playing Jeff Francis here. He struggled last time out in a rain shortened game against the Cards but his numbers against the Backs are quite impressive. 8-2 overall including a win in the playoffs vs Webb. Webb is a nice pitcher but I am still leery of Zona's pen and some of these Rockies could tee off if Webb only lasts 6. Playing Francis and fading the Arizona pen here. At a plus ML its worth the risk.
BOL to all on Saturday bases

adding Sunday night play....
.5 unit as usual until I get back into black....
Chicago White Sox +1.5 (-132)......Verlander has struggled against the Sox, with an almost 6 ERA, and his teams record is 2-6. There are a couple key Sox hitters who have lights out numbers against Verlander.
Buehrle is both a good first half pitcher, but an excellent April pitcher as well as having good numbers against the Tigs-.
The Sox are 32-19 in April the last 3 years, 25-14 against the Tigers, 14-7 at Comerica. The Tigers are struggling badly, and while some people may say this will make them somehow play better, bad streaks like this can really affect a baseball club.
The Tigers are missing sparkplug Granderson and I think they are now realizing what a key component he was to the club. Sheffield is out for the Tigers as well, while the Sox are pretty healthy. The Tigers bullpen does not inspire much confidence, how much longer can they hold up without Rodney and Zumaya?
I am hedging a bit with the runline but at -131 I will take a chance on a confident club starting their ace who has good numbers versus against an struggling club whose ace doesn't have such great numbers versus. Ill take the Sox and the two runs.

Sox looking so far.....looking like I am slightly in the black for the day.
....looking over the lines and doing some capping I am making an RL early play on the Yankees against Tampa tomorrow night.
Jason Hammel is horrible in April. Hammel is horrible against the Yankees. Hammel is horrible at Yankee Stadium. Looking for some of the Yankees big bats to demolish this guy tomorrow night and for Mussina to keep the fresh Yankees bullpen out of the game until the 5th or 6th.
