wish he wouldn't have gone the Willie Mays route.....
seems so long ago, that he was one of the best.... if he hadn't run into all those injuries, he may have had more HR's than Bonds

Good idea actually. With his retirment anouncement his cards will probably spike a little bit. It's a good time to unload them before the prices drop back down. Thats what happened with Joe Montana's rookie when he retired.

Ken Griffey Jr. to retire
After 22 seasons, 630 home runs and a highlight-reel of catches... Seattle sports icon Ken Griffey Jr. has announced his retirement from professional baseball in a statement today. He made his Major League debut with the Mariners as a 19-year-old teenager in 1989, and ends his career as one of the most decorated power hitters in baseball history

A shame all the injuries he had later in his career, he could have made a run for the home run record.

Lay the chalk on the M's and Cliff Lee tonight, boys. He is still considered the face of the franchise and those guys in the clubhouse love him. They win for him tonight.

Moving to the NL was the worst decision he ever made. He stays with Seattle his whole career and he is the Homerun King

Injuries is what did him in, not the NL.
Unless you think being in the National League causes injuries.
Anyway, this decision was overdue. He should've retired after last season. He came back to Seattle, played a season, was bad, ok. Coming back again? Things weren't going to get better. Amazingly, they got a lot worse. He can't hit at all anymore.
Great player, too bad he played too long.

Exactly. Clean player in a STEROID ERA this dude looked like he just showed up to the ballpark with his lunchpale no weights one of the best naturally gifted athletes of his era and all time. Their should not be one bad thing to say about the guy, because honestly their is nothing negative to say about the manto Kenny G!

Was a thief the last 5+ years...did absolutely nothing. should have retired after being hurt in Cincy so often.
But that being said, his 1st 10 years are almost unparalleled

Btw , I have that Ken Griffey Jr UpperDeck rookie card, mint condition in a solid case with screws right out of the carton. It's in my safety deposit box and I"m hoping someone names the right price.
