Meltdown? They were never any good. If you take a look at my first post in this thread, you will see that they got nearly 80% of their wins against scrub teams.

Hell, Marlins are somewhat of a scrub team (except Josh Johnson) and they are on their way to a sweep of the Rays this series.

Rays have strong batting (clearly above average) and one of the best pitching staffs in the whole MLB. That's enough to compete in the tough AL east. They are likely better overall package than the Red Sox. Good pitching wins games.

Team took advantage of so many banged up and struggling teams early on. This is the same team as last year which is to say a .500ish club. If they struggle for the next 2-3 weeks they'll be back double digits and out of the race in the AL East.

chicago white sox will win the AL... great pitching staff, bullpen has been fire and their hitting is getting better by the day, Carlos Quentin is putting in work... Chisox will beat the Yankees in the ALCS, texas and tampa bay will be the other playoff teams but it wont matter at that point
