TEMPERATURES WARMING UP...PITCHERS WEARING DOWN
The scoring trend I noted on Sunday afternoons earlier this season (warm weather day games) is now taking hold across the whole sport of Major League Baseball since temperatures are rising across the country.
Night games now are as warm as day games were a few weeks ago, and scoring is exploding in recent Interleague play.
You've surely noticed that yourself if you've been watching the scoreboards and making Las Vegas bets. It's not a great week to play Unders. Overs are coming through both in first half (first five inning) and full game bets. It's not uncommon to see games go Over the full game total in the first five innings. Tuesday Night Houston and Kansas City scored 16 runs in the first five innings!
Here's what's happening:

Hitters love warmer temperatures, so they're finally hitting a groove after a low scoring start to the season.
Pitchers get tired quicker in warmer temperatures, so we're starting to see low quality middle relievers in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings who weren't getting many appearances earlier in the season.
A lot of starting pitchers got off to good starts this year, meaning they were pitching seven innings instead of six innings for two months. Fatigue started to set in just as temperatures warmed up, creating a double whammy. There are several arm weary quality pitchers who have poor recent ERA's, and several more mediocre pitchers that munched innings in cooler temperatures who have been awful lately.
Interleague play usually brings out big crowds. That extra energy in a stadium is known to create scoring as well. Hitters are more aggressive, as are baserunners. Pitchers feel more pressure to perform. Temperatures got hot and starting pitchers wore down just as IL play started. Triple Whammy!
I also have to note that some teams experiment with bullpen guys as starters, or minor league call-ups during Interleague play. Nobody will risk a guy like that against a divisional rival unless they absolutely have to. Against somebody from the other league who has no idea what the guy might do, it's worth a shot. You see more than your share of no-name pitchers in IL play, and many of those guys are getting hammered too.
Let's also point out that a few very good teams historically were slumping earlier in the season. They snapped out of it at just the right time, and have been putting really big numbers on the board. Boston's had a great offensive run in recent days. The LA Angels have as well (I wrote an article about the Halo's recently). St. Louis had a bad slump for a few weeks that had everyone complaining about their offense. The Cards have caught fire the past couple of weeks offensively. So, teams overdue to start hitting have REALLY inflated the offense across the sport.

I fully expect this to continue through the rest if IL play. Maybe not to the degree we've seen early this week. It's hard for offenses to stay THAT hot. But, hitters will be GETTING THE BEST OF IT in their battles with pitchers for the most part...which means OVERS will be GETTING THE BEST OF IT on the Vegas totals board as a general rule.
Quick strategies:

Only take Unders with extreme Under umpires, in domes, or in a handful of the cooler cities at night.
Be more aggressive with your Over bets in terms of bankroll units if you have an Over umpire, or bad pitchers on the mound in warm temperatures (especially if the wind is blowing out). What used to be a one-unit play is now a two-unit play.
Games that would normally be "leans" to the Over should be upgraded to normal bets.
Games that would normally be "leans" to the Under should passed until you see things calm down again.
If you have access to "first half" totals (first five innings), considering playing those as well. It's not like Over umpires, or Over wind, or Over temperatures wait until the second half of the game to become factors. If anything, it's warmer earlier in the game than later in the game for the prime time starts. Add to you nightly slate with additional advantage options.

alright fellas just got back home...things are lookin ok for me right now..holliday just hit a 2 run jack so cards are up 4-1...rays are up 4-2, royals tied 4-4(under is gone) and pirates up early...tigers need to pick things up but all in all not bad so far...just really need the rays and pirates to hit and all will be good in my world...nice hit on the twins pac...fukkin lidge is awful
